CHRIS1980 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 I really need a niva in my life. Love them!
DodgyBastard Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 Thanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely look into them but first I want to sort the seats and do a couple of other things to make it more comfortable driving longer distances.

DodgyBastard Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 I was at my local tool shop in my 305 estate when I got chatting to a guy who turned up in an old Rover 214 diesel. The guy said that he had a couple of 305's sitting if I needed any spares and also had a saloon sitting in a shed somewhere and it might be for sale... I gave him my email address and asked if he could send a couple of pics.I wasn't really expecting to hear back from him but lo and behold he send me a couple of pics yesterday. It has a gtx interior and a bosch pumped 1.9 xud that's on around 32k miles. He said he would prefer to keep the engine and I could have the car for £200 or if I was to leave the engine in the car it would be £450. The car has been laid up for a few years and has no mot, I know the majority of people see a car with no mot as worth scrap but I think it's well worth the money and I'm probably going to buy it! Dick Cheeseburger Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Shirley worth every last groat of 250/450. 305 on a 'y' plate as well; one of the very first facelifts?
DodgyBastard Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 Pretty much, just trying to arrange collection. Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
HMC Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Lovely! Always been a big fan of these since I was ferried to school in a neighbours estate; even then theirs was rustier that your new one!

DodgyBastard Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 305 should be here tonight! Also painted the Niva! Lada Niva Hussar 1.7i by srblythe, on Flickr Lada Niva by srblythe, on Flickr I changed the gearbox oil too which quietened things down a little. I used the overfill method by draining the oil then adding 1.8L to the top after removing the gear knob. Jim Bergerac, oldcars, danthecapriman and 2 others 5

NorfolkNWeigh Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 305s and 505s were to me,the last proper Peugeots, they were somehow more upmarket than the offerings from the domestic 'big 4' or Renault,VW etc. I don't know how that translated into price , but the owners were more Volvo,Lancia types ; Headteachers,Senior managers, Dentists,Doctors etc. From what I recall of them as bangers, they felt tough but a bit rubbery with crumbly foam and plastics and that old French car smell. Whereas 309,405 onwards they became mainstream company cars.

The only concerning area which needs attention is the A pillar on the passenger door, it's pretty crusty and the door sags quite badly when opened. The wiper motor needs replaced and there's no dash/clocks illumination. It needs an exhaust from the bottom half of the down pipe to the rear silencer. Other than that it runs nicely, starts stops and handles well. Needs more boooooooost! danthecapriman, Skizzer, Jim Bergerac and 4 others 7
Dick Cheeseburger Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Pretty impressive for a car that's been off the road since 2003 according to the Welsh. Someone posted a video of a lad called Darren Lobb elsewhere on here a couple of days back; have you seen videos of his supercharged 305 estate?

tooSavvy Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 I'll have a think. You certainly won't find another railway tunnel in Scotland that you can drive through, all the others are either palisaded or on a cyclepath. .... and reopening the one on the Edinburgh - Gala line was held up because of bats.... getting in the hair of the fatScotsmans wife, likely TS

In other news I got stuck in some deep mud! I got out eventually, I didn't have a spade so I used my hands to shovel the mud clear of the front wheels... DodgyBastard Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 I'm roffling the Niva over on facetube if anyone fancies it? Even after admitting to myself I have too many cars and not enough time to spend on all of them I'l still tempted to go and buy another 305... http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C696057 If anyone fancies the Niva, it's £10 a ticket shiters discount...
