Are you gonna be at Shitefest, Tom?

I may have a few I could bring along then - saves us postage.

I am going to Shitefest and live 5 minutes away from Toms yard,  happy to lug a bootful of bits and bobs each way.

That's very handy to know, thank you Rich. If Tom doesn't make it, then I may well take you up on that.

Tom, do you give a good price for batteries too?

Posted

Fiat Multipla cats around £70 / £80 each if they are off seperate cars. If you mean the manifold cat and the secondary cat off the later ones then will only be around £30 each

Batteries, I can`t get a  much better rate than a local yard its just cats as I take them miles away to one of the main cat places. I can give £1 per kg for old computer circuit boards though

Meant to put this in another topic

so, as I am now breaking a Citroen XM - how much for an original 1996 2.1td diesel cat?

Posted

No idea with out seeing it,never weighed in an XM.   Not alot I shouldn`t think sorry

Hi Tom,

An original cat from a '98 Rover 820 Vitesse? What code is it you need? (struggling to see any kind of stampings under the surface rust)

Thanks

Is it true there be a book that the trade use that shows all the stuff in the different cats and value ?

Posted

Thats exactly how I get the more awkward ones out when I can`t get the grinder in apart from I use a shogun :)

Quite spectacular when removing manifold cats from cars with them at the front. often takes rad and bumper out too . I love brutality :)

lol... I misread that as "shotgun".

Fantastic mental image.

it's about five inches long and is a pain in the butt to remove and I'll just leave it there unless it's worth like £50+

Is it Unipart? If you can`t see any numbers at all then its probably aftermarket as they are made of cheaper metal and rust quicker than originals. Pic?

I would leave it there then, I would of thought £30 max on that age of Citroen. If its even original.

I`ve just taken the manifold cat off that Cuore. Aftermarket. Worth £1.50. But not easy to tell that til its off on one of those. Wasn`t worth the effort really!

That Rover 820 cat code - WAG103640, stamped on both sides of the cat.

Any other codes you need?

Cheers

Thats an original one, I`ll find you a price tomorrow

Are they worth taking off a vw polo 6n petrol? Got one returning to earth at the side of the house because scrap is so low, may as well have some bits off the bastard

Posted

if its original and full should be worth around £30

Posted

all depends on it being original or not. if you cound find the code on it or take a photo I could tell you then. you may need to sand the surface rust off to see the code

I'll have a look next week, thanks.

Got a value but not a fortune! Codes please!!! £25 at a guess, manifold cats aren`t that good

Posted

If I can find the cat itself I'll get a code, it's buried somewhere but useless to me.

Posted

Sounds like a right fuck on this, its gonna cost at least a tenner to post a cat right? To then get £30-40 back? Plus dodgy tom's got to make his margin on it whatever that is. Have to say, if I had a spare cat id weigh it in myself instead of posting it to a third party for him to weigh in!

Posted

That's why I'll chuck a few in a box in the boot when I go to Shitefest, and hopefully see Tom there. If he can't make it, then Cats-int-welder Rich can bob them across to him.

Posted

Why not just take it to the breakers yourself would be easier?

Because they will rob you on price and I won`t. I`m not greedy. I drive a 1999 Shogun.  My local yard owner drives a brand new Bentley with his name on the plate.....

Hermes will post for about a fiver so long as you don`t say its a car part

i forgot to mention I can pick up from Staffordshire, Black Country, Birmingham and Mid Wales if that helps

I'm all for the laziness option - this Rover cat has been sat in my kitchen for 3 months now, but of course I am definitely* just about to take it down the yard.
