Halleluja, I found my dream-yank-car!   8)

How is the availability? Is there a chance to get one of these in good condition for a fair price?

There is loads of old AMC chod in .at, especially in 4WD flavour.

They were sold through Renault dealerships in the 60s - 80s.

You may also want to sample the Concord coupe with its unique vinyl half-roof.

As for availability, you'll need to work hard to find one.  Eagles have a small cult following among Jeep and 4X4 fanatics but other AMC models are rare these days.  When Chrysler bought the wreckage of AMC off Renault in 1987, the new owners had no interest in providing AMC and Renault owners with parts or service.  All they wanted was to get their hands on Jeep.

The AMC Javelin to me is the best looking Muscle car of that era. It's got all the great muscle car q's but isn't the size of an aircraft carrier like the Charger.

....plus the Javelin actually handled well.

As for any kind of 'scene', balls to that; the only 'specialist' I'll ever use is likely to be an NHS one.

Anything that would turn up in a 70s or 80s cop show is good.

Hmmm...sounds familiar. Oh yes, Land Rover

having been in wikipedia this afternoon cos i was bored busy at work reading about AMC, and the comparisons between them and BL/ARG/Rover/MG-R are striking.

then as such if i could i would...

in the bond film the man with the golden gun the seriously dangerous cork screw jump car stunt  was i believe done using a javelin.

if i'm wrong, i'm sure i'll soon be put right.

Somebody say Dodge Intrepid?post-17481-0-82879000-1429035926_thumb.jpg

I really liked hiring these, a great drive IMHO. Much nicer than eg Audi 100 of that era.

I don't get the point of any FWD American car to have over here, that Cadillac Eldorado SixCylinder owns is quite funky but as for things like Eddys Sable - why bother? There is geniunely nothing about it I can see that makes it any better/more special than a mk3 Granada Scorpio, or for that matter, a V6 Mondeo.

Proper body on frame Yanks, now that's a different matter. Objectively, a Jaguar x300 or Mercedes W126 is nearly always a better car as a piece of engineering, but a Caprice or Crown Vic has both licked for durability and value.

The only post 2000 American car I'd consider would be a Crown Vic/Grand Marquis/Town car. Ford did a 'factory hot rod' Crown Vic called the Mercury Marauder (an old Mercury blast from the past nameplate) made for a couple of years in the Noughties, effectively a police interceptor model with snazzy wheels and leather, but I imagine these are subject to scene tax Stateside as they were pretty rare even when new.

It was a Hornet 'liftback' and the flying car was a Matador coupe😃. These were briefly the most aerodynamic cars in NASCAR, and did well in 1974 or 75. Mr Teague again.

I want an '82 Imperial. Just because it's so naff.

It doesn't sound possible, but there was actually a Frank Sinatra limited edition version of this. The light blue metallic paintwork was said to match sinatra's eyes, and it came with a full set of albums (on cassette). Only 300 or so mad Frank fans shelled out for one.

At the time Sinatra and Lee Iacocca were besties (or so Lee kidded himself), and he did a lot of Chrysler ads. This was in the early 1980s, about 20 years after Frank had been cool. He did do a lot of comeback tours though, so appropriate for Chrysler!

I piss on aerodynamics.

AMC built the most woolardable car in automotive history, that's what counts.

We had an AMC Concord as a renter on a trip to the US in 1982. Picked it up from a Hertz in Los Angeles and went all over in it, Flagstaff, Phoenix etc. It was quiet, comfy, strongly built with ice cold aircon. Dark metallic green with a white vinyl roof and a straight six.

I love those 70's/early 80's AMC's. Think I would like a 2-dr saloon one please, with a VM TDi engine fitted.
