My reliant rialto - now sold :-(

Thanks to the robbing dvlatax is now £81 a year, mpg wise you will never get less than 50mpg,no matter how hard you work it,mine used to average 65mpg at motorway speeds, more if just trundling about.biggest problem owning one these days in modern Britain is you can't leave them anywhere for fear of them being on their side or worse in the morning.most owners I've met have had theirs turned over at least once,in one case 5 times in one week! Others I've heard of having them put on their roof and then torched. It seems if you dare to be different you will be a target.so if you live in a block of flats in bilston, this is not the car for you!

Ive had no problems with mine yet, and i live in a mildly rough area....

...unless its me that makes it mildly rough??

lol

i said i liked the post above.

actually i don't, cos it is a terrible state of affairs when it is "funny" to trash someone's car for shits and giggles.

and there is something silly yet so very, very appealing about a reliant.

Well apart from going a bit deaf, they are ok. Make sure you check the forecast though, as more than a breeze will be quite interesting on the more exposed sections of road. 70mph will feel like 170mph. It'll pull 90 if you need to get move on. Done Glasgow to Slough and back before. Nae bother. ;)

having not gone over 60 yet for the above reason, i concur!

  :-D

Most I've been is 96,was still pulling, but ran out of road.aside from strong crosswind twitchiness, they are fine, extra soundproofing helps will sit at 65-70 all day.biggest problem is all the4 wheelers who hold you up,who absolutely cannot be overtaken by athreewheeler!

If there's a better colour for those out there anywhere, I'll eat my scrundapps. I have no real urge to own of these, but what a fantastic looking car. 117.9/6, can't do better.

It is a lovely clean car. However, for me the ultimate colour is either jobby brown for a 73-81 Robin or BEIGE for a Rialto.

I went through a Reliant Fox phase, owned 4,now as reliant were unsure if it would sell, the first 100 were all painted champagne (Jewish racing gold) and one sent to each dealer.the problem is,they only made c.500,so 3 out of my 4 were beige lol

Don't suppose you could raffle this one. Pretty please?

Thats a hell of an idea.

I'm guessing the cabin is a bit cramped in these?

I don't feel its cramped at all. Im just under 6 foot and with the standard seat pushed back its fine for me.

God i have had some laughs in Rialto's.

Fond memories of the last one which we chopped of the roof off from the front seats back and then grafted the back of the roof and C pillars onto the front of the roof to create a closed cab.

We called it the Pig up truck.

Loved that old thing and used it to shift 3 tonnes of road stone (not in one go obviously)

I would...

well, the deed is done, it has been sold, subject to collection on thursday night. :-(

it will be sad to see it go, but at the same time, it is funding something almost as shite, so all is right with the world :-P

cheers for all of the interest,

Lee
