Anyone know what happened to this?... Iranian 405 thread rez

Knocking on a bit now, but a few years back this Iranian built 405 was snapped kicking about a carpark here in good ol' Blighty. New, unregistered and covered in delivery stickers etc, it was an incredible find that had sadly suffered at the hands of vandals..

Thread here.. http://autoshite.com/topic/7825-rootes-spots-new-year-crap-pics/page-6

I know there were a few enquiries but nothing more was said. Did anyone hear what became of this baffling spot?

Looks like the 405 ROA withe the Peykan running gear. Why they did this is unclear given how much it must have cost to reengineer the entire car

I still think the 405 is a handsome car.

Might still have another one (would be my third) but somehow I don't fancy one with Hillman Hunter underpinnings.

Funnily enough I was wondering about this car the other day.

I think the Iranians just like to do stuff like this to try to prove to the world that their engineering industry is capable of doing stuff like this. Their aircraft industry is certainly infamous for pointless and somewhat dubious attempts to show off their prowess...

In a previous life on here I was Rootes_Arrow_1725 on here and the Peugeot was pictured by me in those days. It was on a Birmingham car park next to J5 M6 and the company that owned it had moved away some months prior and left it

there. I went by there funnily enough about mid January this year to see if it still about but it had gone. Fate unknown

They did these without Rootes bits as well, judging by the stance it's a normal 405 - the "on stilts" look is standard for Iranian 405s. The RWD ROA jobs look a bit more half-arsed, wheels not sitting quite square in the arches, etc.
