sloth Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 always wanted to try one but im 11ty miles from it.
AlabamaShrimp Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 I might be interested or at the very least I've got a garage to store it in. Where about is it and as I can't remember what the deal was about paying/insurance type stuff hairnet 1
JohnK Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 It's currently just outside Middlesbrough but I'm sure delivery or some half way meet up could be arranged. Whoever takes it next needs to pay me £120 (which you will get reimbursed from the next shiter to take it on), whoever is using it is responsible for insurance. I just added it onto my policy for £notverymuch
Volksy Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 I also may be interested, as I could do with a short term vehicle to tide me over for a while. I can sort Insurance, and am not that far away - Sheffield.
Pillock Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 I think it also should be run past philibusmo too, since it remains his car and it's nice that he knows who is driving it. barefoot 1
philibusmo Posted November 26, 2015 Author Posted November 26, 2015 Both Volksy and ArkansasCrustacean are worthy Shiters in my books. Go for it, just don't crash it. M'coli, fatharris and Dave_Q 3
AlabamaShrimp Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Well it was a nice idea but I'm out. Insurance knobheads making it too expensive to add it and being awkward as I have an ongoing claim with them
JohnK Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Anybody interested in taking this on? It's currently on the mother in law's drive and getting a weekly run out but relationship breakdown means I'm on borrowed time for keeping a car up there! £120 secures the loan of this fine steed, subject to Phil's approval.
Jimmycrackcorn Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Bugger I know I haven't been here long but I'd love to take it on for a bit. And I'm not far from JohnK either. I don't have the finds at the moment either for that matter.
Skut Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Having thought about it I'd be really keen to take this on for a bit. I know I have one of my own but its still in the middle of its weldathon and it would boost my flagging mojo and give the Suzuki a rest. If Phils ok with me as custodian for a bit Craig the Princess 1
aldo135 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Could I be on standby for this if it doesn't work out with the guys above? My 740 is going to be off the road for a bit until I can sort the auto box and could do with something different, and these look a right laugh! I'm in Edinburgh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
philibusmo Posted January 2, 2016 Author Posted January 2, 2016 If either of you can send me your full name and address and turn up at JohnKs with £120 of proper pound sterling monies then I'm happy for you to be the next custodian of it. Make sure you get insurance sorted with it stated that you're not the registered keeper and all's good.
philibusmo Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 I've had the required info from both of you in very quick succession, Skut claimed it first here but aldo messaged me first. I suggest a dual to decide who gets it first.
Skut Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 If it helps my case I will be parking it at work next to a big white Merc cabriolet with the reg plate Shiona B. I plan to piss them off as much as possible.
aldo135 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Sold! You go first mate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Skut 1
Pillock Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 If it helps, you could probably park it in the glovebox of the Merc. It's hilariously small next to a modern car. I parked it next to a Fiesta and it looked lost. barefoot 1
JohnK Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Look how small it is! That's Skut on his way up to Dundee today after collecting this. Minor issue on collection - I escorted Kris to the local petrol station, on arrival he commented it was 'bad news' as it only appeared to be firing on 3 cylinders and had cut out on him. Listening to him Rev the engine I agreed with the diagnosis so we popped the bonnet. Swift repair carried out - HT lead had popped off the dizzy cap! Checked the other leads which seemed a bit slack and pushed them all down and then signposted Kris to the A19. I followed him for a few junctions and pulled off so we could check progress, the prodigal lead did seem to have slackened off again so it was adjusted and he was off on his way. Latest text update says all is well but it looks like new leads are probably needed. It seem to be idling really low as well. Enjoyed my time with this little car - cheers Phil for trusting it with me! skattrd and Skut 2
skattrd Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 As a temporary measure I may have used cable ties on HT leads before to stop them from popping off. JohnK 1
JohnK Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I was tempted to chuck some tape around them actually!
Station Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 It's on the wikipedia page as well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autobianchi_Y10#/media/File:Lancia_Y10.jpg
Pillock Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 It did idle low, when cold it required a little dance on the pedals when pulling up to junctions to keep it going. A mile down the road it was fine though when I had my day with it.
M'coli Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 That's probably my fault, I adjusted the idle speed down a touch, it's adjustable back uup by the screw on the top of the inlet plenum. skattrd 1
phil_lihp Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I think it got tinkered with for the MOT back when Negative Creep had it after me too, when I had it first it was far too high which made it rather frantic and jumpy in traffic, I got it idling just right at about 900RPM by adjusting the throttle and the screw M'coli is referring to.
STUNO Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Autoshite moment : Looking at this thread at breakfast time in NZ and being able to look up and say "Philibusmo there's a photo of your Lancia on here " is bloody satisfying. Skizzer and chaseracer 2
Skut Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 The little car has now arrived in the land of Volvos. Many thanks to John for picking me up and keeping an eye on me till we were sure i'd make it. 1st Impressions are not as noisy as I was expecting. The engine seems smooth and its adequately refined. Guess i'm just used to tin boxes! The idle is way too low though. Its ticking over at 200 rpm. I'll fiddle with the idle screw on the plenum when I get the chance. The gearchange is light, steering precise and although not blindingly fast its an absolute riot. The pedals seem closer together than my Y10 oddly. Seem to needs feet like cocktail sticks in the Gt. Pillock, Lacquer Peel, DVee8 and 6 others 9
Skut Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Had to post this, Y10 with Midas clocked in Leuchars. Its to BLs shame they didn't mass produce this badly. The Y10s working better with regular use. The brakes have lost most of their scary mush. skattrd, barefoot, aldo135 and 9 others 12
Skut Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Right you lot. Just submitted this for MOT so lets bloody hope it passes. M'coli, The Moog, loserone and 1 other 4
