So,I've been looking for another Manta for sometime now,and nothing in a reasonable price or condition has shown up

In my search i've kept an eye on other stuff that was lusted over "back in the day"

A deal was arranged on something a bit special, and the Mrs' new whip was pressed into service less than 48hrs after she bought it

Off to collect the trailer ,from the local trailer guy,and found these in his front garden

Seems to be cornering the market...

And so a trip down the M54,M6 and M5 was started

Much chod spotting was conducted on the way with the Mrs on a constant watch, and to be fair she managed to grab a few pics

Been drystored since 09 whilst the seller restored his fathers 1 owner from new mk5 Cortina

Put up for sale as he wants to take on a convertible next

Being a 4x4 makes it 1 of less than 500 sold in the UK,and 1 of only 3 finished in Java Blue...

Mmmmmmmmmm

Once loaded and paperwork sorted,we hit the long road back to that there Shropshire

Few more spots b y the better half inc this cool tool

So it's now sat on the trailer, whilst we try to sort out where to put it

This 1's a keeper

Plan is to get it recomissioned properly as it runs at the mo but the power steering rack has spat it's dummy and fluid out

Spares collecting has already begun...

Stunning mate, very nice purchase!ðŸ‘Â

Christ, that must be mega rare. Give it five-ten years and it'll pay your mortgage.

Nice.
Like a lot of people I suspect, I had the chance of quite a smart red one of these a good few years back but I just thought, 'Eeeurgh, a Mk5 Ford Escort, no thanks'

Serves me right, doesn't it.... ;)

I'm not really "into" Escorts, but the smiley one is the best looker to me. And an RS2000 4x4 had gotta be the ultimate as far as I'm concerned. Nice colour too.

Verdict: WOOD.

Nicely done. I am also a mk5 fan and that is indeed a rare bird.

I also like Disco 3's. Does your missus' plate stand for vajazzle?

Nice choice also extra points for it being a mk5b I think that is one of the most unloved of the bunch, nice colour and as said still under the rs tax radar

I've just noticed that "Drystored" is an anagram of "R DESTROYD".

I think.

Hope yours hasn't suffered from its interment, 'cos it's lovely. NOICE BUY M8.

Nice work. Are the transmissions in these as prone to self destruction as most other 90's 4x4 versions of 'ordinary' stuff (cavalier, 405 etc)?? Certainly an interesting car alright. I'd love a 4x4 Mondeo.

That's an amazing amount of stuff for one journey. Even an Orion with canoe on the roof, blimey with the flashbacks.

Me mate lives down there and there is tons of old stuff on the roads.

I noticed it myself, mk1 Golf GTi's, mk1 Astra's, Volvo 340's, XR3i's etc all at the side of the road or being used.

:D

I'd love an RS2000. I actually really like the the flat front with the power bulged bonnet but a 4x4 appeals and that combo never existed did it?

Oh dear! Ive been fighting the want to purchase another car, and its between a MK5 Escort and a Charade. Ive been looking longingly at the RS2000s currently on the bay, especially the cheap one that needed putting back together!

Really sneaky too as it's very easy to dismiss it as just another Ford Escort.
