I don't see why not - I'm happy for you to use my photo, I wonder if the owner is a club member?

Thanks. He is, or at least was; I don't get updated on the Membership that often.

I think that is a GT6 with the roof chopped. Why not just buy a spitfire? The bonnet bulge is hiding a 2.0 straight 6 lump from the 2000. Particulary liking the Jag - reminds me of home...

Just what were Skoda thinking when they came up with these

Does this bear a resemblance to the Proton Jumbuck? These all hark back to the Talbot 100 "Wind" pickup which was Simca 1100 based & therefore very cool & trendy!

Posted Image

Maybe not!!!! Hope this doesn't cost any more than 75p a day to rent

I take it holiday rental cars are distinguished by the red H on their plates?

Brilliant pics, I love the house in the last one!

Let's play Top Trumps Jerseyshite. You're only allowed to use the "Shite Factor" which is a function of the car's (un)desireability, rarity and condition.

Posted Image

Something rather non-UK spec about this Mitsi double cab dating from the days before pickups became all vulgar looking. Shite factor 50?

Posted Image

Toyota "Carib" - aka Corolla 4WD estate. Two tone paint and automatic transmission boost this one here. Shite factor 60

Posted Image

Former blood-box, chassis presumably Bedford CF. Ugly and uncommon. Shite factor 35 (45 if klaxons still operational)

Posted Image

Escort 3-door estate. Not as widespread as the 5-door. Practically worthless now but watch those prices rise as they disappear. Shite factor 20, plus 5 points for those nice limited edition white wheeltrims

Posted Image

Alfa 33 Cloverleaf. Evidently static for yonks, check out how green that tarmac is. Faded paint, zero resale value, probably won't ever drive again. Shite factor 40

Posted Image

Older Alfa. Don't know what it is. Looks to be race-prepped. Shite factor 25 and reducing

Posted Image

Original Sierra Cosworth. Looks careworn (often parked next to the seafront and hence frequently covered in salty water). Shite factor 10, halved if the owner cleans it and replaces that missing centre cap on the front rim

Posted Image

Forward Control L-R. Not painted in camo therefore Shite factor 40

Posted Image

BX Mk1 14E with original wheeltrims. In tidy daily driver condition. Shite factor 75

Posted Image

BX Mk1 16RS estate. Can't have been many of these built. Shite factor 78

Posted Image

505 GTD turbo estate. Earns points for ridiculous roofbox that the owner clearly couldn't be arsed to remove after the car's last trip abroad (probably 10 years ago). Shite factor 50

Posted Image

Red oxide Urvan, surfer dude owner clearly ran out of gloss black (or weed) after doing only one panel. Refreshing change from the jillions of Folksvagen boxes knocking around these shores. Shite factor 45

Posted Image

Not a Dolomite, apparently. Loses points for non-period registration mark (J64xxx wasn't reached till the early 1980s) and faux-retro plates. Claws back some crud-cred for having that shade of paint and those wheeltrims. Shite factor 55

Posted Image

Old Toymotor parked on the approach to the scrapyard. Unclear whether car was being repaired, or stripped before being dumped. Enormous tailpipe suggests (hopefully) the former. Non-trad plates mark it down. Shite factor 92

Posted Image

Subaru SVX. Too modern but utter scarcity a boost. Shite factor 80

Posted Image

Subaru pick-up. Crap colour, practically abandoned. Shite factor 65

Posted Image

Dead Sierra Ghia, not moved in five years. Paris Blue paint a bonus. Shite factor 30

Posted Image

Early Marbella. Naff colour. One original wheeltrim left. Isn't a Panda. Excellent. Shite factor 45

Posted Image

Renner 19 droptop painted, apparently, the same colour as those recent Fords earlier in the thread. Employee half-inching some leftover paint? These cars surprisingly thin on the ground, even in cabriolet-soaked Jersey. Shite factor 38

Posted Image

Late model Renner 4. Speaks for itself. Shite factor 72

Posted Image

Mini Moke. Mayfair wheeltrims and general wankyness bump this to Shite factor 54

Posted Image

Mk1 Justy. Evidently completely uncared for. Other side looked a lot better with both hubcaps intact. Nevertheless, Shite factor 48

Posted Image

Tatty Golf. Non-scene. Derv power. Looks like a zimmer frame in the back. Shite factor 57

Posted Image

Rotting 60s British paperclips-in-the-making. Bits falling off it by the hour. Close to a lot of restored stuff hence likely to be rejuvenated. Shite factor 88

Posted Image

Daihatsu thing. Probably seats about 20 farmworkers. These things rusted to bits in 3 years flat so this one's done bloody well to last so long. Shite factor 83

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/clubmanestatebrown.jpg

Clubby. Second one I saw this week in that colour. Let down by the Minilites. Shite factor 33

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/bmw02.jpg

Venerable Bimmer. Bit over-restored and the paint hurt my eyes. Crap front plate. Shite factor 37

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/acclaim.jpg

Rust blisters, Triomatic badge and original dealer plates on this Acclaim. Shite factor 49

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/accord.jpg

Accord 3 door now few and far between. This one earlier model I think? Shite factor 41

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/fez00-1.jpg

The pick of the ten mk2 Fiestas I've photographed in the last month - this incredibly crappy van. Mismatching seats for good measure. Shite factor 58

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/cavaliermk1cabrio-1.jpg

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/cavaliermk1cabrio-2.jpg

Cavalier automatic "Centaur" convertible. Words fail me. Shite factor 300

Posted Image

Older Alfa. Don't know what it is. Looks to be race-prepped. Shite factor 25 and reducing

I first thought 1300 GTA Junior, but the double headlights threw me. Probably still got GTA & Junior in the title though! Might be 1500?

Posted Image

Old Toymotor parked on the approach to the scrapyard. Unclear whether car was being repaired, or stripped before being dumped. Enormous tailpipe suggests (hopefully) the former. Non-trad plates mark it down. Shite factor 92

Toyota 1000 I think.

Posted Image

Mk1 Justy. Evidently completely uncared for. Other side looked a lot better with both hubcaps intact. Nevertheless, Shite factor 48

WTF's with the padlock!

Posted Image

Daihatsu thing. Probably seats about 20 farmworkers. These things rusted to bits in 3 years flat so this one's done bloody well to last so long. Shite factor 83

Daihatsu HiJet?

Yes, pre-facelift MkII Accord if that's what you meant.....
Posted

Lovely 'Hatsu, 'Baru and 'Yota! That Alfa will never be a 1500, don't think they ever made that. Probably a GT Junior 1300 or 1600 with some 'upgrades'?

extra shite point cos is an earlier fwd?
Posted

My God - a Centaur! Rare city. More or less shitepoints for the tasteless (later Manta) bumpers though?

Posted

Have to say I like the Cosworth. It looks totally original down to a standard size exhaust and that has got to be rare! The paper clips in making is an extremely rare Series 5 Oxford estate. I hope it gets saved! But if its as rotten underneath as all teh external panels are its gonna be a big job

 i no it may sound dumb of me but if cars dont need mot how does it work for tax ?? and insurance ???
Posted

Excellent spots as ever, I'd visit Jersey just for the car tat - and for all the wartime underground shizz. The Justy probably has a comedy padlock because the door locks are incredibly weak.

Time for another update. Excuse the quality on some of these, the cameraphone is definitely on its way out now and sacked me off while trying to get an impromptu snap of a BEIGE Y-REG AMBASSADOR that against all odds had somehow found its way to the island. Leics registration too.

J-toss :)

Posted Image

Posted Image

Any guesses on this one? Registration plate on the rear looks like DVG286G, which comes up on mycarcheck.com as a Leyland but that's all I know!

Posted Image

Volvo forward control Land Rover type thingy.

Posted Image

Nice wheels, looks to be a late model.

Posted Image

The old biddy driver likes her window stickers.

Posted Image

Not really within my definition of shite, but left hand drive which I thought noteworthy.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Although both currently insured neither of these looks to have moved for YONKS.

Posted Image

In good condition :)

Posted Image

When did they drop the Opel badging on these?

L-toss  Plenty of pre-LDV era Sherpas still around, this will be one of the oldest left.

Part of a private collection, these are in a museum that opens to the general public in season.

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/tobeused/tkchassis02.jpg

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/tobeused/tkfrontend.jpg

My guess is that these are Bedford TK chassis, the first one must be a boat dolly nowadays but no idea what the second (retaining engine) is utilised for.

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/tobeused/waverleysb.jpg

Probably the last remaining Bedford coach of this type in original condition on the island.

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/tobeused/bluecoachswift.jpg

The mainstay of the coach fleets is still the Leyland Swift dating from between 1987 and 1992.

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/tobeused/rt-01.jpg

Randomly this ship was leaving Jersey with nothing but this ex London double decker for deck cargo, in the colours of a Guernsey radio station and presumably on its way to either France or the UK.

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/tobeused/fiorino.jpg

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/tobeused/gwagen.jpg

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/tobeused/triumph.jpg

Look closely and you can see the silver-on-red H, meaning that you can actually come to Jersey and hire this car! Much nicer than a Ka 8)

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/tobeused/fiesta1300s02.jpg

Very nice 1300S in beige

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey03-09-07/tobeused/fiestalblue.jpg

This month's mk2 Fiesta pick, principally due to the rear arch rot which is unusual on a Jersey car

PHWOAR!I'll take the sherpa please. Delighful commercial shite. And probably the blandcrab too. HUMMA!

Posted

Nice selection :D The 'mystery' commercial is a Ford D series, and is a later model with the facelift style cab, which would date from about 1978-1982, the D series was replaced by the Cargo range in 1982  Love the Wolseley Land lobster

Posted

I assumed the 'mystery' actually regarded the rather apocalyptic-looking airport fire tender (?) next to the D-series....

Posted
 OOF! I went for the device central in the pic, the machine next to the D series looks to be an Alvis Stalwart :wink:

LOLz, on re-reading the original post it does rather look like I wasn't aware what a D-series is :lol: Here's a rear view for good measure;

Posted Image

Posted

the rather apocalyptic-looking airport fire tender (?) next to the D-series....

That's an Alvis Stalwart. Amphibious and very cool looking, but I hear they're not the easiest of things to own; when you're driving them on the road you have to run the nearside wheels up and down the kerb to let the transmission unwind - else things go bang.

Blimey! someone else recognised it  Did you by any chance have the Matchbox model of one in 'BP' livery Mr Dead_E23

No, but a friend came close to buying a full sized one - as close as viewing it with cash in his pocket. Unfortunately he suddenly came to his senses after working out how much the trip home was going to cost at 6mpg. Shame, 'cos I would have liked a go in that!
Posted

MkI Prelude! Lots of other goodies too.Landcrab one of those odd cars that doesn't quite seem to fit into the grand scheme of things, bit like Ford Corsair. Therefore, always guaranteed shite!

Posted

Ace selection! Love this, except for the wheels:

Posted Image

Posted

That Mk 1 1300S is a beauty - I'd love to own that for sure.

Nice wheels, looks to be a late model

Think those wheels were fitted to the 127 Palio...
Posted

My picks are the Ford D series (I assumed that confusing pic was actually in the wrong place as the caption didn't fit!) & the Bedford coach! Also, the early Uno fronted Fiorino & the Hiace camper!Oh & Bones96, I'm guessing from Craig's comments that cars must still be insured & there seems to be a way of telling by looking at the vehicles! Or so it would seem?Would Mk2_Craig care to enlighten us?

Posted

No not really!

But I did find out more about the Alfa pictured earlier in the thread, it carries a UK registration plate on the back.

Posted Image

DVLA sez:

So there you go kids, and when it's a rainy day maybe I'll tell y'all a bit more about vehicle legislation over here.

Wow a fellow shite enthusiast from the same fair isle, many of the crappers you've taken pics of are either cars that I've seen many times before or have actually driven, the old mk1 white Renault 5-my mate owns it and offered to swap it or sell it for next to nothing-6 years ago it looked mint but now its a bit...shite. the bronze Merc G-wagen we did some work on at the garage (smelt of shite I remember) and the green Renault 4 is just brilliantly shite to drive what with a weird column gearshift. The Citroen Visa is owned by a local mechanic who is well known locally for hillclimbing his mad 7 litre jag e-type but everytime I bump into him he's sat in his Visa-he really loves that thing-literally. My own shite consists of a 4.5 Rover SD1 (still classed as shite as every panel is either rotten or dented) a near minty SD1 2600 (shite because its not a vee eight) and a clean BMW e28 525i (the last two need to go!) I shall post up some pics of some more of Jersey's Jewels in honour of your fine work-and to any of the chaps on the mainland reading-I doubt you will ever see so much shite per square mile (vergee?) as you will in the shite capital of Jersey and the mileage is usually low too, I know of 4 abandoned BMW 6 series here amongst its many other hidden gems but the main problem is Jersey people never want to let go of any old shite the answer is always the same-"No its not for sale I'm going to restore it" type of thing but they never do. I weep I really do.
