Well I am not very good at this collection malarkey as I forget to take pics :-( so here goes anyway

After being sent this interesting link from vantman

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271580555070?ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1435.l2649

i just had to have it so 405 squid later collection was organized for bank holiday monday (big mistake) so since it was this early i forgot to take a pic oops

post-3747-0-16326000-1409355026_thumb.png

i had intended to drive it useing these

post-3747-0-68942400-1409355053_thumb.png

but it has been of the road since 2008 so i thought that wasnt the best idea, for the same reason the A frame was ruled out so i borrowed this,

post-3747-0-37296800-1409355074_thumb.jpg

and one of these and after a quick measure up thought yeh it will fit if i take the sides of,

post-3747-0-89834500-1409355062_thumb.png

so after what seemed like hours takeing the sides of the trailer and fucking about we where ready to set off, so at 9ish we where eating hot dogs and coffee for breakfast while giveing the hilux a drink too,

the journey was pretty much shite most of the way due to the excessive bank holiday traffic and the further south we got the slower we had to drive, we noticed a distinct lack of old cars on the road :-(

post-3747-0-56454000-1409355298_thumb.jpg

we arrived at the blokes gaff about two hours later than planned but he was sound and understood, we took the ramps out and tilted the tipper trailer for a straight snag free drive on, this proved a bit hairy as we had road camber plus the deck of the trailer is smooth metal and it was wet with the rain, a bit of slight wheel spin later she was up with an inch or so to spare each side then strapped on,

post-3747-0-42238900-1409353711_thumb.jpg

as you can see she is a tight fit

post-3747-0-16733100-1409353895_thumb.jpg

paper was exchanged both ways then we where shown his collection, he had arrived in a datsun 100 estate and his yard was full of interesting motors includeing this old skip, i nearly wet myself.

post-3747-0-50952500-1409353790_thumb.jpg

so after a lengthly chat we decided to hit the road again and it was still bloody chocker with traffic, after a while hunger struck so we stopped at weatherby services and ive never seen it so busy the traffic was double queing right back onto the motorway, so we snuck into the truck park and walked over for some light refreshments,

The cornish pasty was lovely but im not struck on the coffee,

post-3747-0-10350400-1409354046_thumb.jpg

so round two and much stress and traffic later here we are back home at 6.30 unloading,

post-3747-0-94529600-1409354229_thumb.jpg

Here she is awaiting the final desision on wether its worth fixing or just keeping for spares

12 hours 400 miles £80 quid in dizzle £20 odd in food and a vow never to do it again, i think if it hadnt have been a bank holiday and also leeds festival then it probably would have been a great run out.

A big thanks to Vantman for alerting me to the add and anyone who reads this half arsed lazy collection thread :-D

Brilliant!

I have a soft spot for these little things. It's just a shame they're not RWD like the similarly styled saloons.

Nice one! It's also nice to see Vantmans old Colt still about too.

yes I have had it 3 years now and apart from servicing it has been trouble free, even sailed both its mot's which is amazing considering its done the classic twice. not sure misterbishi designed it for this kind of treatment

Love it, hope you manage to put it back on the road.

Has it got the magic 2nd gear stick? If so, it must go back on the road.

Excellent work!  Another vote for it going back on the road (easy for us to say from the comfort of our armchairs, having not crawled around it getting our eyes full of rust flakes!), but with a proviso: once it's MoT'd, can I have the number plate please?  My initials are EWR...

What do you need RWD for when you can stick Wanlis on the rear axle?

Nice!!!! IS that old skip the one JM post now and again in the tat thread; looks familiar it does.

Also, do you collect pallets as a hobby ?

The plan was to use the interior in mine and stash the rest for spare parts to keep mine going long into the future, will depend on how much rust I find.

yup both of them are the 1410 twin shift.

yes that skip has been on the ebay thread and believe me it looks worse in real life

The yard is not mine I just dump shite in it :-D its a haulage yard hence the pallets

I need a Colt Mirage to atone for the sins of my past.

better be quick as there's not many left

I loved my Colt.  It was an auto rather than the 8-speed manual, so it was hopelessly undergeared on the motorway, but a great little thing to drive.

Well before I started cutting logs I though I would take it out the container and have a poke about to see if its worth saving.

here's what I found

The oily bits are sound it purrs like a kitten and I hate to say it but it runs better and quieter than the blue one.

This car must want to be back on the road as its already starting to strip itself down to speed up repairs :-D

What's this then oh not to worry its only the carpet.

post-3747-0-12303600-1409429195_thumb.jpg

the floor is bad but only on one side so that's a bonus I guess,

post-3747-0-48423400-1409429274_thumb.jpg

this wing is by far the worst bit of the body god knows where I will get one of these,

post-3747-0-03456500-1409429370_thumb.jpg

ah here's one that's a stroke of luck :-D

post-3747-0-32107400-1409429384_thumb.jpg

do people just not bother emptying a car nowadays, ooh sexy glove

post-3747-0-44401600-1409429508_thumb.jpg

I guess with this low millage the sellers one old lady story could be true, especially with every mot to back it up

post-3747-0-15187700-1409429604_thumb.jpg

I took a photo of the reverse park sensors and the eight track but its to blurry to post, the park sensors work too which was a surprise.

this side light may prove hard to replace though.

post-3747-0-74303700-1409429837_thumb.jpg

after looking it over today it definitely looks saveable with a bit of work, I will remove the seats and carpet to fully asses the cars structure before the final decision though as what looks not bad could end up in a welding race round the whole shell to beat the rust monster.
