Cholmondeley Castle 31st August

I have considered cycling up, but on balance I'm still pretty pissed and the A41 is a nightmare in a car, let alone a bike.

I've just got home, tired and sunburt.

Great day, good to see some old faces and meet some new ones. There were some quality motors in attendance including a Rancho, wobbed up Metro, SM, A110, A310 and quite a few other different motors, someone who took pics will be along shortly I'm sure.

Thx to Junkman for the organisation, David for the coolant and everyone that pushed the Lancia up the slippery grass slope so I could leave.

In total my Lancia clocked up 310 miles in 24hrs and apart from a couple of stutters/stalls was pretty much faultless. I'll fuel up later on this week and work out mpg.

I snapped you on the way out...pic later. :)

Nice one, with the Sirion bumper riding shotgun :D

Also the 740 is poorly. I have butchered a t-shirt in a vain attempt to slow the oil pissing out. I have no more Chodly pics on the phone so that'll have to do. post-4240-140951073907_thumb.jpg

You gonna get home ok Andy?

I'm home, made good time, having trundled along happily at Allegro 1100 speed in convoy with our new mate "Squire Dawson".

A great day, thanks everyone. There'll be some pics coming, don't know if any more of mine are worth posting... I'll have some tea and have a look :)

But an enjoyable day, and hopefully more chance of bringing Mrs_the_cat along to future meets. And the dog - she enjoyed making new friends too!

Great day, lovely surroundings, decent weather and good company too! Some pix:

Here's about 75% of the Scrappage Scheme Evaders stand.

Here's the pipe photo, I think Dugong will have a better one since he was dedicated enough to actually climb into the pipe (something he did while a Rolls Royce Corniche owner watched intently from his fishing chair).

It's at Gretna... fannied up using an emergency fuel cap at Burton in Kendal. Seems to be holding up so far. Still using water...

It was a truly enjoyable day and a delight to meet you guys!

One of the highlights of the day for me was sitting in the back seat of KruJoe's Allegro - something I haven't done in 30 years!

Thank you so much! I enjoyed every second of it.

Er... not mine - that's Squire_Dawson's. It's a great machine. I'm still pulling bits of fur from the seat covers off my clothes.

It was great to meet Junkman, Mo (Lord_Sterling) and the colour-coordinated Mrs_the_Cat too. (She perfectly matched the LT camper; do we have photos?)

That Corniche was delightful in every aspect. I had no idea how wonderfully shite they are, except for the price tag, of course.

However, my ultimate shite points today go to the lime green FE Victor with an interior fashioned from my grandfather's trousers.

I shouldn't have looked at this thread. Gutted I couldn't come to this :(

Absolutely brilliant day! It was great to meet everyone and be part of the THA BEIGE KREW. I'm sure mine and Retrogeezers car were sprayed in the same colour.

The first photo at the services is what I called 'the line up of failure' ;)

Brilliant day, more of these please!!!!

The trousers were a complete coincidence, believe it or not!

This 'un

See, it doesn't even blend in with other greens.

Anecdote of the day:

I was standing around there doing nothing with nobody around me, when two giffers approached Lord Sterling's k00p.

Giffer 1: I don't believe this.

Giffer 2: I had the same one!

Giffer 1: But yours was mint!

Giffer 2: Oh god, this one is truly terrible. Mine was so much better.

Me: Yeah, this is the worst one you'll ever see, and that's the whole point!

Both giffers: Silence...and walk awayage.

Yeah, right. Admit it. You had the paint mixed to match them.

Another arresting conversation I overheard today was between two decidedly elderly, impeccably attired chaps, who oozed academic grade,

admiring a blue, wobtastic Daimler 250, that had more waves along its flanks, than the Irish Sea.

One of them said "that's exactly like the one I drove when I was at uni."

Not to be out-classed, the other one responded "mine was green."

RESTECP to Chris_Skattrd for crossing the country in this, sans roof, and not giving a toss about the torrential downpour we experienced between Lymm and Chodley this morn.

Last seen heading eastwards with the corpses of Homer Simpson and Mutley stuffed into the cabin with him.

A Ford based Falcon (not to be confused with a Ford Falcon!).
