Returning from LeJog maybe? My boss should have been on it, but had car issues (not his, some acquaintance's Mk2 Zephyr/Zodiac).

As an antidote to that heinously awful Beemer estate. here's a proper Rat-Look vehicle with a patina that cannot be created but has to be earned! It's an absolute shed but the guy uses it all the time. What a wonderful way to stick two fingers up to the establishment 8)

Had a poke round the local scrappy yesterday too. It's the last one in the area that has any resemblance to a proper yard but is nevertheless a pale shadow of it's former self in the days not so long ago when you had to clamber over Citroen GSs and Allegros and hope the Triumph 2000 forming the archway didn't come hurtling down on top of you :(

Love it!Pity about the plate-rape though. :-(

Agh! I find that genuinely upsetting, I love that series of Carina II, it's even a Hirst-spec GL saloon.

Where did you see the A60 Mash? Looks great! The scrappy spot Espace looks like a proper early on too.

A60 is absolutely divine. Scrappy Nova (5-dr) is the spit of one I owned very briefly a few years back, the devil's own car E666YUX  which was prone to shed random bits of trim down the M6.

hang in there bud, someones looking for their perfect partner

Hmm, that Capri bonnet could be useful... and maybe the Minor and early Espace in rather nice colouring. Yum yum yum.The 5-dr Nova looks so fresh; the paintwork on it stands out and says 'doesn't belong here'

I'd rather not say as it's one of those precious few still in this kind of condition that I'm sure would not last a great deal longer if a certain unscrupulous minority group were to learn its location. :?

That scrappy is pretty 'old school' by my estimation, its rare to find three mid 80s cars sitting on top of each other these days (Fezza, square Rover 200, Audi 100). The A60 is great, reminds me of the emptier bits of Herefordshire in the mid 80s, stuff like that (and a lot worse) was everywhere...and MOTs were for the nitpickers. It should be preserved 'as is' for future generations, (but still driven daily, maybe by a minor royal).

Just a couple of phone pics to round off the year. HNY to everyone by the way :D Here's to another fabulous year of Autoshiting in 2009.

Fab Farina! (Think I recognise the location but I'm keeping me gob sealed too)Is the scrappy in Beverley? Did you ever see the yard on Long Lane that shut a few years ago? Wish I'd taken some pics, it really was a treasure trove.

Yep, Jacko's. He had the long Lane yard too, in fact there is still some stuff in there according to my dad as he's sneaked in a few times when working in the fields at the back but it's very much at one with nature I believe! Up until a few years ago there was quite a lot of 60s and even older stuff in that one but it was pretty far gone and it hadn't been open to the public for ages. I remember going round it as a kid with my dad and grandad and playing in all manner of old tat while they did their regular search for bits for his Morris Minor. It's a shame I never had the foresight to take photos of either yard before the EU got on his case

Slim pickings this time of year.

Managed to catch this OMGAE86RWDDRFTWAGONFTW on the M60 near Manchester last week. Sorry about the crappy pic but there was a fair bit of traffic and I didn't fancy being responsible for a multiple pile-up....

It was W-reg, don't think I've seen a pre-facelift estate before.

This turned up at the small garage in the village today so I nipped across to get a snap. No-one around though to ask about it.

Whats the silver saloon at the bottom? My best guess is mid 1980s Miti Lancer but its hard to tell.

Proton i think, based on a mid '80's Lancer

I watched an episode of The Champions this morning which is always a bit hit and miss for spotting but this one was pretty good for street scenes.

Check out this super early Renault 16 - fabulous!

Wow that R16 is one of the very first. Check out the different wheels and hubcaps.

I went to Newark autojumble today – briefly! It was a glorious morning so I went in my Triumph 1300 and we had a great run there, looked round the cars, took a few snaps and went off to the stalls. An hour later it was peeing down and freezing cold wind. Had our sandwiches then came home along with everyone else!

Anyway here are the pics. Only a few for now because my ancient computer takes hours to upload any more than a couple at a time. More to follow:

What on earth?

I have NEVER seen an 80 wagon like that before. Is it 'real' or a jazzed up passat? - Bonus points for hi-pro tyres. MINUS 1000 points for scene rack & plates though.

Posted

Ha ha, love that wheelarch shot! I would have been 'getting off' on those arches too. LOOK AT THIS WHEELARCH EVERYONE! ITS TOTALLY UNTOUCHED! LOOK AT IT DAMMIT!

I'll take that audi estate that thinks its a Passat please, lovely!
