Handlebars and a few nuts and fastners going rusty

Being a Honda "should " mean it's mechanically sound but you need to go see it

Easy to miss a lot of flaws wih a bike in a picture

I've a lot of love for the earlier version and still own most of two of them. Stonking engines that pull from the bottom like a twin should and still give some revs at the top when you want to crack on. The engine looks the same in this one so all good though I've heard (from a fast courier who did many miles on both) that they don't quit match the earlier ones in the handling stakes.

Good price on that one mind although I little out of touch with such things! 120mph is enough in most situations in the real world I find.

*The header pipes on all these rot for fun, I've painted a few in the past though it all seems to peel off. Exhaust wrap is a good way of hiding it.

my ntv is dying bought with 104 on now on 110 :D

dont think it pass mot in a week hence looking at others

mileage doesnt scare me :D

all the others that have 18 20 30 k are 1600 plus :D

That could be knackered with that sort of mileage on it

Discs look ridged, headers rusty,it's either been couriered or been used at a riding school

But... It's a third / half the price of a low mileage example of the same age, you could buy a spare engine or two and its still cheap.

I'd expect the throttle bodies are knackered, possibly generator/rectifier, I'd fit a new cam chain and change oil and filter pronto and run it until it dies and then still make £400+ breaking it for spares

I did my test on one of those (like lots of people). I don't recall the mileage but I think it was sub 100k or I'd remember. It had been dropped three times a week for about 7 years and was held together with tape and cable ties. The clutch was knackered too, which was GR12 for doing the turn in the road.

It was brilliant.

With that mileage £500 tops.

Mileage that high is no good for retail, only a breaker would show any interest.

them miles are nowt if it dont rattle or leak and its 11 years younger than mine

Yep, if you bung a Sidewinder on it :-D

What engine is it? 3500 V8 = Rover? The forks & front wheel are from an early '80s Suzuki.

I guess its a Rover. I don't know if you could actually ride the thing if you have legs or any sense of self preservation. Thanks for reminding me of the Sidewinder.

Is it a Moto Shify? My mate also has one in his garage.

Is that one of those French things that used a car gearbox, complete with H gate?

Weapon.

EDIT: nope, it's Italian, and it used a 903 cc Fiat 127 engine putting out a massive 53 bhp :-D

Can't find info about the H gate transmission...

Münch Mammoth? That had the Fiat engine, didn't it?

Posted

CJ, the Munch had an NSU car engine.

JF, if I remember right the gearchange did have a H gate, you had to move it sideways with your foot. The engine was out of a Fiat 127.

Sorry Hairnet.....we drifted a bit...as you were.

It's stud though. Get a mare, you could breed them. The £££s will roll in, no doubt.

A week ago I went passed one of those robin diesel engined Enfields. It was on the side of the road all shiney, the owner stopped to get some feeling back in his hands. It looked like a lot of engine just to get 8.6 bhp, probably weighed the same as the Suzover.
