I had no idea - as a lad I thought I knew that  Arnotts in Ayr (pictured) as part of a small dept. store chain that was recently 'swallowed up' by the House of Fraser - turns out that actually happened in 1936 (a wee bit before my time) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnotts_(Scotland)
Arnotts were originally Irish fellas that started up  a Scottish subsidiary  - don't think they're directly connected to We Are not Insured Arnott.

This is a Norwegian advertisement for Shell lubricants and fuel celebrating a 1946 US Ford taxi that has reached 400,000 kilometers without an engine overhaul using Shell products, the only major work done on the engine is valve adjustment and grinding of valves. The taxi worked in Oslo.

Anyone recognise this? I cant work it out (feels a bit Japanese?), & its plate isnt coming up..
