The steam engine being a 9F and shiny and looking at the SD1 and Metro dates it about ten years after normal steam finished would suggest it is 92220 Evening Star, which goes nicely with the Rising Sun. 

Evening star was the last steam loco built for British Railways in 1954. If it is in Leeds it is probably heading for the Settle Carlisle line.

There is of course also the amazing Tornado first steamed in 2008 - a new A1 Class steam loco made from scratch. Under construction is Prince of Wales a P2 loco to the orignal designs of Sir Nigel Gresley with completion expected in 2025.

I was aware of this which is why I specifically said the last steam loco built for British Railways. Even if I got the date wrong. I googled it and the first one was built in 1954 which must be why it was in my head. I am clutching at straws here obviously.

Yes. I noted the BR reference - Morning Star was of course the last.

I thought it was useful to add about the new ones- a most extraordinary achievement to make these new steam locos - given the closure of most of old railway works. They are just beautiful.

Tornado made over 100mph. The new Gresley will be even faster.

Very well spotted on the detail - of course the  SD1 was long after BR steam ceased.

The big supermarkets and other shed retailers really benefitted from UK industrial decline and upheaval in other business sectors

Many supermarkets are on old railway land or old factory sites or as here a car sales pitch. 

A lot of profit was jacked out of those former sites. They really benefitted from all that cheap land becoming available quite quickly in the 70's and after.

In London more recently petrol stations have gone built over for flats. And of course pubs which have gone.

And the holders of the shed sites are now doing well as town centres decline.

Cattle Markets were a bit of winner for them - usually large sites not too far from the town centre and (not a lot of use these days) the railway - the ones I know/used/lived near were;
Ayr (Morrisons)
Stranraer (Morrisons)
Northampton (I think Tescos?)
Exeter (Retail Park)
Aberystwyth

All of these (except Aberystwyth) have a new cattle market on the outskirts of town built for decent lorry access. Aber has a lump of field with some sheep trestles. Decent gates though :-)

Both Ayr and Stranraer were marvellous old places (we used to be allowed to take a short cut to school via the Ayr one and you could just wander through all the barns and auction halls on a non-market day)

Yes. There was probably a lot of better and nicer uses for those. But the era of the big 'supermarket shop' seems waning so who know what next for these sites. Housing I expect.
