Tunbridge Wells and it looks like the Fleetline (?) minus it's n/s mirror has twated the lamp post or is it an old trolley bus gantry ?

And the Audi passing by must have been a rare sight back then.

It is a Leyland Atlantean.Ā  It went on to work in Cornwall for Western National.Ā  Had long lives ISTR.Ā Ā

In 1936 AndrƩ Basdevant proposed a project to allow cars to access the restaurant on the Eiffel Tower. The idea was to construct two helical concrete roads on each side of the monument, one up and one down I guess, the down one after a few glasses of vin ordinaire would be interesting..

Of course it wasn't built, but if it was in America, and if the restaurant was run by a well known fast food chain....

Used to buy drive belts, oil and parts for Massey Combines and the like from here in the 1970s - and it still looked like this inside (complete with counter clerks in brown warehouse coats)

Bingo!
Yup - he started in Kelso - speil and the picturesĀ https://issuu.com/sundialmagazines/docs/ht6r/s/14910905

In Stranraer they had the Massey dealership and there was also Ford and DB dealers. Henderson's was best as they stocked all sort of bits and pieces and fluids over and above MS stuff (that and they had a belt sizing tool so you could measure up for new ones :-)Ā )Ā

Still looked like that inside the one on Gorgie Road when I used to buy stuff from them in the mid 90s.

(Sad loss).

Some of the staff had modernised from Brown Cow Gowns (Warehouse Coats) to grey nylon with press studs tho !

This was in my home city, I remember getting petrol there in my early driving days in the mid 80ā€™s.
