Two words:  Get Carter.

You're a big man, but you're out of shape.

And I do this for a living.

IIRC it's -

"You're a big man, but you're in bad shape.  And for me, it's a full time job.  So, behave."

See also "eyes... like two pissholes in the snow"

"and you...are wearing purple underwear"

"Oi Jack, your car needs a wash"

" A pint of bitter ... and in a THIN glass"

etc.

The Hard Way was made in '79 and stars Patrick McGoohan as an assassin who drives an Austin Princess.

Yep, driving a Princess could make any of us want to go around killing people.

With me it's a full time job.

Now, behave yourself.

Jacques Tati's 1971 film 'Trafic' features a large amount of chaude in it.

^^^Including Renault 4 camper and Siata Spring!

Pretty much all Tati films feature some eclectic chod or other. He was an Autoshiter par excellence.

If you are into 50s teuto-shite, then One, Two, Three is the flick for you.

Sweeney 2... Bad dudes in balaclavas do a jump in a cortina 2.0S. Amazingly given the abuse this car got in the film - DVLA say it lasted until 1986!

Confessions of a driving instructor... 70s fun with a mk2 cortina and ladies with more bush than the Aussie outback.

This car lasted til '85 it seems... Yet I'm sure it was lifted on to a scrapyard pile at the end of the film?

Ronin (1998), lots of executive Frenchness being thrashed to bits. And the big chase around the Perephique(sp?) has all manner of stunt cars of late 80s-early 90s vintage.

See also Bourne Supremacy for the Russian version...

When the film came out my mate had a 535i.

We royally took the piss out of him because the one in the film could'nt get away from DeNiro's 406.

All the older Bond films have a chod selection in them.

Pathe have recently put 1000's of there newsreels onto youtube so there must be some good picks from amongst that lot.

Also have a look for anything from the british chidrens film foundation as their films where made on the cheap with whatever was on the street at the time.

Get Carter' s cars all seemed to be perfectly cast without being caricature villains cars( apart from George Sewell's 3 dr Jag!)

My favourite was the scabby old Humber used by Thorpey( Bernard Hepton) , it was wobbed to fuck and had big chunky town and country tyres on it.

I could never own a mk3 Zephyr just in case someone threw Alf Roberts off a tall building onto it.

Plymouth Valiant in (Spielberg's best film) Duel.  True 70s Detroit shite. Abject vinyl-lined gutless drearyness.

Weird bodged up 4 door Avantime in Children of men - other interesting shite lurking there too.6.1.jpg

^^^ yeah, obscure French stuff is occasionally used as futuristic cars by Hollywood.

That avantime and in the background is a CX estate which had a funny nose grafted on for the film.

iirc Back To The Future II had Citroen DS/id19's as future taxis.

oh and I just watched the new version of Robocop. Disappointing lack of chod.

"I want something that goes really fast and that gives really shitty gas mileage...."

Brannigan(1974) is a treat for old skool Ford fans. Featuring the first successful screen outing for a Consul GT (a silver one this time) just before a certain bronze one hit our screens. Speaking of which the Sweeney Consuls reg no brother, NHK 296M, a Granada coupe also appeared in Brannigan. Peter Brayham, the stunt arranger for The Sweeney was the guy who jumped the Capri mk2 GT over Tower bridge in the film.

Plenty of early 70s chod in the 1971 film Villain, with Richard Burton. Including Joss Acklands bombsite car lot and a Vanden Plas 3 litre, mk4 Zodiac, Triumph 2000 mk1 and Jaguar S type getting destroyed in a botched chase/robbery scene.

Cortina shurely?

Soz, yep of course. Granny koop in Brannigan was NHK 293M.

It seems that you are correct about Get Carter.

I'm rather annoyed that I have a t-shirt with a misquote on it.

in much the same vein..
