Volksy
Could this be a job (or long term project) for Mr Volks?Lacking the slush factor tho I spose...Sadly not, as much as i would like an 18, i'd strangely prefere a 2.0 GTX Auto Estate. Pete-M
I had an 18 Turbo once, and a Fuego GTX, and a few 5TSs, and a 5 Gordini Turbo. I've also had a Safrane 2.5 20v.I built a 4 Gordini turbo many moons ago.I'm restoring a 30TX right now.Ohhh shit.Double shit.I've just twigged that I'm had Renaultpervitis for years and not noticed. nigel bickle
Yup -got it real bad.4, 5, 8, 10,12est, 12 van, 15,17, 18, 21t, Fregate, Colorale, Fuego gts, Fuego t (lhd) fuego t(rhd). Prob forgotten a few.Yep I too have looked at that turbo -but Ii reckon it could be a pile of trouble. Vendor says the headlining has collapsed -never had even wet ones do that..Must be mighty damp in his storage. What odds the velour is disintegrating? And who oils brake pads to get it to roll? I reckon the seals in the turbo will have gone -(no real prob ,I've a couple of spares) and they'll be heaps of 'snagging' to come- it is a Renault!!.And -having bought it a pile of better ones will come out of the woodwork -the owners having been alerted to the potential value of the old poo in the lockup.S'pect it'll go for large funds -and be back on theifbay in 4 months when purchaser realises the enormity of the jobbie.Wont be bidding -thank god.PS- Absolutely love my standard 18 -the epitomy of anonymity. Splendid fun -using it loads at pres.
Volksy
On the subject of e-bay Renaults, the bargain Phase 1 25 GTX never came into fruition. The vendor was in contact, up until 2 days before I was coming down to collect. A Lift down to Epsom had been arranged with a mate who was passing through (200+ mile trip) so I then tried to contact the seller on the day - he knew i was coming, but he hadn't given me a telephone number or an address!! Several emails were sent, no reply received, in the end i couldn't hold my mate up any longer and i didnt want to go down 'blind' with the hope of contact from the seller. with the chance of a £120 train ticket to get myself home if he didn't reply.I ended up telling the seller that I wasn't interested, to which I got a reply of - If u still wnt the car email me.... Mr Lobster
R18 Turbot looks decent enough but I expect it will very rapidly turn into a lot of work for someone being an old Renault thats spent a lot of time in storage and all
RENOMAD
Yeah,,I had something like that happen me.That silver 17 that I lost out on about a month ago.,1 week later the seller emailed me,,,if you still want etc etc. which I did,but still didn't hear from.I emailed him a few times asking him to let me know either way what the story was,but he still didn't have the decency to. Splendid fun -using it loads at pres.Has the board ever seen pics of your 18 Nigel? I know I haven't. Love 18s, they're in my top 3 Renners. Found a nice looking saloon on the ROC Classifieds for £350, unfortunately the ad was several months out of date and the car (I enquired) was long gone! nigel bickle
Yes Reg -thats the one. £100, MOt'd for 11 months. And I hope I've tracked down a front bumper for it. Now set off with some Fuego turbo alloys.

nigel bickle
Autumnal switch around Reg,-so its changed a bit. ''Dailies'' are the 2 Fuego turbos,18 & Fiat Coupe. 5 & 17 will be barned month end -21t out with the Croma. Both Saab 900's stay the course, uncertain about the trio of Datties. One of the BX's will prob be used too.Fiat 124 is virtually road ready, 117 is mid sort, FSO is now getting a twink (fed up wth pissing about with eastern bloc shite). Fregate is MOT ready (interior now reupholstered)-uncertain whether to leave till Spring or hoon around now (whilst salt free). Bellet is causing brake issues -still -seems to be the next weakest link in a never ending chain.Caravelle is now cleared for paint- by the rozzers (Mr Demeanour now serving time) but I cant find an appropriate sprayer locally. Taunus transit is 4 ft in the air as I wrestle with the daft mechanicals & the Transit pickup is mid weldathon. Barkas awaits collection -vendor paid and at peace.. Lil' Kia is just MOT'd & will shortly be Ebay'd -done its time here & served well.Fiat 127 racer is going to return to the road -daft but persuaded by kids (worth nowt & too old to be competitive).Very nearly everything needed for the 12 van is in place (-inc rhd conversion) so thats due intensive spannering shortly. Aronde waits peacefully, playing silly sods with the early Trab -incorporating centerlines.Punto softop recently acquired with a blown engine for SWMBO, and another Fiat Coupe with a bust cambelt awaits collection (I've all the spares from the other blown bottom end one)On the bike front, RE5 saw the light of day recently -after many years, and the engine out of the kettle is now part stripped (crank seals). T500 is awaiting ticket, T250, T20 & T10 now being barned. Jota may be for sale -old age catching up, BMW in occasional use, as is Blackbird.Bloody ridiculous really -I clearly need help. nigel bickle
I dont mind you all talking around me -no really.Really. I think.Yes Paul -sort the bumper -might be going on t'bay for seventy trillion dollars if that black one sells! The jet's needed doing twice more -and a new filter seems have have it nearly sorted. Fuego t needs a new starter solenoid -have you got one? Fails when the engine gets heat soak -had to bump it downhill t'other night!Funny how one seller brings them all out of the woodwork -I expect they'll be more 18 turbo's along shortly, all low mileage long term dry storage just needing a wash/polish to gain an MOT!The Trab is a plaything. T'was my first -I imported 5 a week when the wall came down, keeping a Tramp, late one ,early (P50) estate as well. Dont know what to do with this -so thought I'd play... Start with the shiny's; may initially swop out the engine for a Kia pride 1300 I've got spare to start with....Those vehicles mentioned are just those floating around at home -plenty more in store.. Need more space, need more space...

nigel bickle
Nope. The very last time I showed 'non family' a barn -it got torched. Lost the lot. Still not over it.They all stay hidden -unless they are out 'in use'.Sorry
