ProgRocker Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 These look really nice. Like a shortened VW Type 4. fordperv Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 That looks cool, I hope these are out of reach of the pineapple brigade tooSavvy 1
Pillock Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 They're pretty decent. Effectively a Beetle under the skin, so a beam front end, torsion bar rear, and a rear mounted aircooled flat four which even retains the upright cooling fan, rather than the "pancake" engine of the Type3 cars. Downside is less luggage space, Type 3s had a boot front and rear, upside is that they're pretty easy to find tuning bits for - or even a turnkey hot motor. The flatter engines use the same block etc but tend to run hotter as the fan isn't as good for an uprated engine. They will pop wheelies with a 2276. It's on The List.

Felly Magic Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Are there any Veedubs that are immune from the Pineapple mob?
Pillock Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 That looks like a Touran front end, but it's shared with the Caddy and judging by the lack of interior light, and the fact the roofrack is so far forward, and the MASSIVE wingmirrors, I'm guessing it's a commercial vehicle.I've got a Touran outside. It's got roofbars so I might throw a pineapple, an empty oil can, a stuffed labrador, an oil painting of Anthea Turner, and a pink tricycle up there just to piss on your chips I've already considered putting one of them bonnet bras on it, but only because they're £60 and to get the hailstone damage fixed (strangely confined to the bonnet - must be thinner metal) will be £200. Might filler and then stickerbomb the bonnet instead to generate even more FURY. I don't think I've ever seen a Scene'd Phaeton but I bet someone will prove me wrong shortly. I want to see it on 13" Ronal Turbos.
morris_ital_lover Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Are there any Veedubs that are immune from the Pineapple mob?Schwimwagen... They can't afford them luckily! On the Brasilia, it is an interesting car like many other South American oddities (the Argie VW 1500 being particularly notable)... I'd be very tempted by one.
Junkman Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 http://www.oldbug.com/75brasilia.htm ...yellow stuff TS and now in very high demand worldwide In other words, they attract a massive scene tax.
inconsistant Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Are there any Veedubs that are immune from the Pineapple mob? Golf Plus? Phaeton... wrong
Shep Shepherd Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 An interesting car. It puts me in mind of a mark 1 Golf from a parallel universe
Alusilber Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 The Brazilians also had the Karmann Ghia TC: and the SP2: which make me slightly jealous. Shep Shepherd and ProgRocker 2
Pillock Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 An interesting car. It puts me in mind of a mark 1 Golf from a parallel universe Well really, it was. It entered production only a year before the Golf, but remember in Mexico - especially in the 70s - the Beetle was king. It's like rats to London, you are never more than three foot away from a Beetle there. So it was just an updated version, squarer body to give more interior room and an up-to-date look but still with the same engine that can be fixed by a one-armed blind man with a hammer and a twig.
robinmasters Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 That looks like a Touran front end, but it's shared with the Caddy and judging by the lack of interior light, and the fact the roofrack is so far forward, and the MASSIVE wingmirrors, I'm guessing it's a commercial vehicle. I'm thoroughly ashamed. It was the first link on Google. Lazy. Is this any better?
