205 Full disclosure dept  - Last MoT had advisories that brake discs a bit pitted and worn but OK then by test standards.   One dust cover on suspension joint is worn but was keeping the muck out when tested.

Radio antenna loose.     Still strikes me as a fair deal, but IWSTWI.

If someone wants my xm for £500 with t&t I'll be round tomorrow bready!

Sadly I don't think anyone will.

I have just taken this car and had it washed most excellently by a couple of dudes from points East.   Fuck you, Farage, you hatey tosser, these hard working guys are the biz.  They wanted to charge me some ludicrously low amount for an ace job, but I haggled them up.

Anyway, car now (1) shiny (2) free of dead beetles etc inside (3) about to go on SORN and (4) under a cover awaiting a buyer.

I gave it a good old Italian tune up around the lanes.  All fine. Brakes maybe a bit worn.  Still OK but might need new pads at least.

Also possible- LOAN Deal.  You tax it, you insure it, you drive it, you put oil and stuff in it.  I still own it.   If I have it back with tax still on I pay you for the tax pro rata.

Offer open to shiters of good repute.  OK, there's no such thing. Offer open to shiters.

I would but apparently it would cost me £1500 to insure it. I'm not joking either. 15 hundred to insure a 450 quid car? Tell me insurance, how the fuck can you justify that?

See above:  I will lend the car to any shiter  - or any person warranted to be a sound and decent sort by a shiter - who wants to put six month's tax on it, and will pay my share of the tax if and when I ask for the car back on, say,  a month's notice.   I suggest a minimum loan period of three months but always negotiable.

Borrower would be asked to look after car and not rag it senseless from cold but otherwise treat it as their own  (inc taking the rap for speeding tix and so on).  V5 wd come with so can insure and get lovverly FINEZ etc, but reg keeper ain't always owner, as any fule kno.

Chaucer Direct insured me (51 year old barrister with 9 speeding points but mega no claims) on a 2.5 V6 Alfa living out doors in Oxfordshire for 305 quid fully comp.  Shop around.  Try classic car insurance on mileage limit.

My classics are with Footman James - supercharged Lancia and Series Landy for 250 quid fully comp.

Chaucer cover my wife on her two litre 206 CC for a decent rate even though she has a DD from when her mum died in harsh circumstances four and a half years ago.

Shop!

The loan deal could possibly be the best idea,as you may regret selling

Those mats are making me a bit ill. They remind of that Amiga title 'Bill's Tomato Game'.

MesoAmerican Folk Art, innit.  Sure does help conceal the badger shit.

Nar.  It's more than OK, and I have no regrets about having bought it, but I want it gone in the medium to long run.   OK, I need to be careful about collecting those final 3  points, but even so the sweet little Pug is too slow for my tastes, and my wife doesn't like it.

Insurancewise,  be sure to tell Mr or Ms Computer Says WTF that this is NOT a turbo diesel.   Mighty 59 BHP fireball , this is.

And yet STILL group 8....

Good to see what a 205 Inca should look like!  Frankie the Popemobile is scruffy yet hugely solid.

It's rather ace that and I'm sort of glad you're miles away.

Posted

Okay, who would insure this on a classic policy? If I can find a way....

Vulgs has sort of dibbage on this until tomorrow.

yeah... loaning a car is more sensible than buying one at the moment as I only really need working wheels for a couple of months.  If my insurer (Adrian Flux) are morons about it then it's back on.

Glad to see it going to a caring home!! Well done Angyl 'The Peugeot Destroyer' Vulgalour.

I'll have you know I've never destroyed a peugeot... except for that one time when I got in Dad's old 305 estate and the suspension on the side I got in collapsed.

Phew, was about to start making plans there! Please get it Voksy! (AS Southern meetup at breadvans?)

I'm out!  I was expecting insurance to be fairly cheap but not uber-cheap but it's going to cost me £770 for a 3rd party social-domestic only policy limited to 3,000 miles.  That's insane.  Considering I can insure any number of saloons and estate cars for less than half that for fully comp and unlimited mileage it makes no sense at all for me to take this on.  It's not the first time I've had really shocking quotes for hatchbacks, I guess they're just not for me, which is a shame as this looks like a cracking wee thing to knock about in for a few months.

I tell you what, that's the tidiest 205 I've seen for years. It's obviously been very well looked after in its life.

3rd party only insurance is often considerably more expensive than fully comprehensive for some obscure reason. My MGF insurance would have been £170 dearer 3rd party than fully comprehensive.

Weird.

Also adding Mrs Beard as a named driver later on resulted in a £43 refund. I just do not understand the world of insurance!

This car is indeed tidy, although of course not perfect.    I think it's pretty fair value even at 500, let alone less, but IWSTWI.

Original handbook still in glovebox.  Some service stamps shown.  Two keys.   Original dealer sticker was on back window but I hate dealer stickers so took it off. Naughty, some will say, but stickers spell giffer to me.

Anyway, it is now on SORN and out of the weather.  It can stay asleep for a while if no one can take it.  I will warm it up every now and then.

This 205 looks lovely. If my N/A Saxo dizzler wasn't already performing the same tasks so well then I'd be very interested in this. If the Sax gets any really nasty MOT shocks in May then I might come knocking.

What's your local railway station BV?  I'm really tempted by this despite it being a bit new for my classic policy.  Just need to consult the brokers and see if insurance plus train ticket plus car equals bankruptcy or not.

beko I think the rent is about £126 for 6 months or thereabouts on a pre 2001 engine over 1547CC
