Small (1.4 - 1.6) modernish car wanted.

My daughter is going to need another car very soon.

Her likes are Focus, Astra, Clio, Zafira, Escort etc. The Escort 1.6 comes up a tad expensive on the insurance for some reason, so better confine these to 1.4's.

To give you an example of her ideal car... A mate of mine was selling an X reg 1.6 Astra for his son. He said we could have it for £325. We went and viewed it last Monday. It was on ebay. My mate tried to take it off the bay, but because there was less than 12 hours to run, he couldn't. I was outbid in the last second. The winner has still not collected the car, or given a deposit, so my mate is going to give it until tomorrow, then offer the car to me again.

So, if any of you fine fellows have a suitable conveyance and wish to sell it, please feel free to pm me.

Power steering is a must.

Ta.

If we get offered the Astra again tomorrow, we will be having it and will have wasted everyone's heffing time.

X-reg Astra?

A 1982 Astra would be not too modern even for me, especially in beige, or this green, that makes split pea soup look appetising in comparison.

It has girl-wheel-drive though, so I'd prefer a Chevette.

What you need* is a nice Citroen Xsara.

1996 Almera GX, 1392cc, IG6, MOT to October, tax to end of May, 108k miles, some service history, PAS, leccy windoze in the front, manual, 4 decent tyres also OMGCAMCHAINENGINE so no rubber bands to worry about and it doesn't even rattle for bonus points.

£300.00 ish?

Only downside is that it does have a bit of rust on the rear of the sills, passenger side is worse than drivers side. Both have been plated to a high* standard in the past, prolly could do with them being re-done for the next test, depends how easy-going your tester is.

Actually saying that as it's your daughter maybe not, you don't want her having 100's of men pestering her every time she drives it.

Please save it until my daughter reaches driving age!

Thanks for the advice. I don't think she likes Golfs anyway. I think Polos are in the same category. I like Almeras. Am I wrong in saying they are reliable?

Still looking.

She doesn't like Ameras. I knew I didn't bring her up right....

Was offered something else on here, but the insurance was too expensive.

Surely there must be a 1.4 Astra or Escort out there.
