Cheggers Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 That's a cracking piece of work, you've really got the perspective right. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
fordperv Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I think vulg has made a ringer lovely picture as per usual
vulgalour Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 Quite surprising that it's been a whole month since I last updated this, there are things to add, as you shall see.. I've found the topic of commissions is diversifying very nicely of late, I do like variety and that's just what I've been getting. Here's a picture of some tropical fish completed in watercolour, ink and acrylic. I don't often draw fish. Sloth in a bowl 1
vulgalour Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 Another commission, this one to a tight deadline for a birthday. The original is A3 but the scanner has been less than gracious about the colours, something I need to look into because it's making some pieces look sub standard. Anyway, this is of an actual Triumph Herald that has recently been restored and, for some reason, inspiration decided it should be set in Magic Roundabout land. The intended recipient was delighted with it, his exact response to the picture on receiving it was "sick". I think that means I did good. fordperv, Skizzer, Cheggers and 2 others 5
vulgalour Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 First prize in the Tombola went to Semi-C and he requested a Mazda 929 estate. I was more than happy to oblige. The only problem here is that the scanner seemed totally unable to see the colours properly and the end result is a bit odd... but it is what it is and Semi-C will get the original which will look even better than this. vulgalour Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 To get everything up to speed, here's a silly picture I was commissioned to do of a tiger zooming around on a John Deere Gator. This was commissioned by a friend who had started working on a golf course, this is mostly what he did all day, now he's a self-employed gardener in Maidstone, Kent. If you have a garden that wants sorting, give him a call (I'm happy to forward details to him). I reckon he should get a van and have it vinyl wrapped with this picture. Everyone would remember who he was. Essex V6, Cheggers, rml2345 and 4 others 7
Mr Livered Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I reckon he should get a van and have it vinyl wrapped with this picture. Everyone would remember who he was. That, in all seriousness, is a good idea. Whilst all the other gardeners in the area, if they have signwritten vans at all, probably just have their name and phone number or whatever, he would have something that really stuck in people's minds.
Micrashed Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 That reminds me I still need to find something to sketch for the commision piece. The Hospice liked the east view you did, they have had it framed up properly now rather than the cheapo one i lobbed it in.
vulgalour Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 That would be this one. Thought I'd already put it in the thread but hadn't. I'm delighted that they like the inked piece so much, and flattered too. I checked the records too and Purplebargeken hasn't made contact or replied to my PM regarding his prize from the tombola. If anyone else can poke him into responsiveness I'd appreciate it, I'd like to honour my side of the deal on that one. Micrashed, brickwall and Skizzer 3
vulgalour Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 So... I'm open for new work now that I'm caught up, finally. If you fancy a little something-something, give me a nudge or whatever.
Micrashed Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I still need to decide on that half price piece I bought ages ago. I just cant think of what at the moment....
vulgalour Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 I can pass it on to our highly* trained apprentice, Partridge. I take no responsibility for the end product, he's a bit of a crazy dood when it comes to drawing on things. wuvvum, scruff, Micrashed and 1 other 4
dugong Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Dear Volksangyl, Please could you do a two panel piece of me driving Nigel Bickle's Isuzu 117 down the A50 really fast? The road was metallic blue for some reason. That's panel 1. Panel 2 consists of me opening the bonnet to find the car was powered by a rucksack. I need to look rather puzzled but ultimately accepting of the situation.*I apologise, this flu medicine is making me feel a bit weird. vulgalour 1
They_all_do_that_sir Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I knew from stuff you said in other topics you are a man of art. But today is my first exposure to your stuff and I'm all impressed. I'm also all skint otherwise I'd be looking a picture done of my old rover metro. Shouldn't have sold it, wife learnt to drive in it etc etc maybe some time in the not so distant future I'll be sending a request your way. For now have a bump!
vulgalour Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 Metros are a popular request, I think I've done three by commission now. I do like Metros to look at, I just wish they weren't so uncomfortable to drive.
TimothyClaypole Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I've lifted this from Sawmill Creek in the engraving section. In theory I should be able to do this with my laser so if you have something in line art I can try let me know? (The OP there did it as a test as people can't get the mounts so he made one on his laser to fit the led's into but I think I could make them in hardwood with a router if I had one and a workshop but that's another story/idea and I'd be worrying about copyrighted stuff from his suject).
vulgalour Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 There's a couple that might be suitable. This ink-stage scan of the Viva picture from earlier this year. This hearse picture. The block sections might not work for the engraving thing though. This Atlantic might work too. As with the hearse I can provide a version without the watermark. I do have scans of the inked commissions earlier in this thread that don't have the watermarks too, so if the customers of those were up for you playing with their pictures and give permission, I don't see why that couldn't be a thing to go for too.
purplebargeken Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Officially communicated with Angyl about my bit of art. I must have been so stunned to have won something my mental defences must have just blanked the email. Weird. I iz very excited now though!
DS20 Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 And would you be willing to have a stab at a line-drawing of a DS?
vulgalour Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 @twosmoke: I'm okay at motorbikes, but not as confident as I am with cars. 10% discount on the usual price for any motorbike pictures because of this seems fair. @DS20: all the yes! @PBK: You should have a wobbly primary sketch of that in your inbox now.
vulgalour Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 Since I have a little break while I wait on feedback from customers I thought I'd make a start on a motorbike picture. It's properly shitey and owned by a shiter so you know it's going to be okay.
Anglevan Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 I'm building a one off ford anglia at the moment, and the more I see your work the more I'd like to have that drawn however I'd like it done in a 60's car brochure style. Would that be possible? I have example brochures for ideas.
vulgalour Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 Hit me with some examples, it's quite likely I can't do what you're after as many of the art styles of old car brochures I find I cannot imitate. Bike sketch, picked on shiter Bub2006's Honda C90. This is the second stage where I've gone through and tidied up much of the detail work. It's highlighted to me how little I know about how bikes are put together, and how fiddly they are compared to most of the cars I've been drawing. Definitely outside of my comfort zone, but in a rewarding way. phil_lihp, nacho man, Essex V6 and 2 others 5
bub2006 Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 That is fantastic mate. Its a shame the bike is no longer with me. Extraordinary amount of detail in there. Are you sure you don't want a crack at the current one?!
vulgalour Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 I might... I want to ink and colour this one first. What's the current bike? If it's something ridiculously mechanically complicated to look at I'm going to make you come here and weld up my Princess instead of just helping with doors.
hairnet Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 thats fuggin excellent - fairing looks a bit odd camera angle and the box needs to be a rickman for full shite points but thats ace jays theres some in here somewhere vulgalour 1
Anglevan Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 I will dig some samples out. I'm not after replication just your spin on the idea. Thanks.
bub2006 Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 The thing is hairnet, that is the box I had on. Solid wood with a metal chain retainer. Vulg will get a decent pic and upload it for your perusal. If all else fails, ill get the MIG out!
