vulgalour Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 I do, I use the Derwent stuff as they're pretty high pigment content and reliable quality compared to some of the other brands I've tried. They're pretty versatile, I use them like traditional watercolour blocks and as regular coloured pencils and as something in between the two.
vulgalour Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 This one has turned out nicely so far. Fancied drawing a flat front Mini, undecided on some smaller details that you'll see later. Minis really are a remarkably simple and unfussy thing to draw. fordperv 1
phil_lihp Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Particularly liking the Mini, tricky job getting the perspective right on the numberplate digits!
vulgalour Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 First of all, other places you can find my artwork:Twitter @angylroper Facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Angyl-Roper/421672927963692?ref=hl Secondly, Suggestion Friday. Starting today I'm going to take suggestions from people of what I should draw** every Friday. I'll then pick a suggestion at random and draw up a piece for the following Friday that will be available to purchase. **let's try and keep it moderately sensible, I'm not Jim'll Paint It. quicksilver Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Your work just keeps getting better and I love the Plaxton coach. As for Suggestion Friday, how about a Harvest Gold Marina? It seems to sum up the whole ethos of BL in the 70s. vulgalour 1
vulgalour Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 I know someone with a harvest gold Marina.
Grundig Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Is the pineapple optional? No pineapple or roof-rack shit please vulgalour 1
scruff Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Fancy a go at a traction engine? If not my suggestion is a Ford Cargo in Autoshite livery carrying a Tagora. vulgalour 1
fordperv Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 a sierra base with droopy mirrors and black grille parked outside kwiksave, its got to be the pogweasel blue they came in vulgalour 1
vulgalour Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 I was worried I wouldn't get enough suggestions to make this viable, but I can see I needn't have been! eddyramrod 1
vulgalour Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 I'm not taking any suggestions past midnight on Sunday for the first Suggestions Friday, I've got a big list to work through, quite surprised at the positive quantity of ideas hurled at me. Applejack Mini £40 inc. P&P Really, you can't go wrong with applejack paint and gold coach stripes. Skizzer, phil_lihp, fordperv and 2 others 5
PhilA Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 You'm getting better and better at this. I'm interested to see what comes of the Suggestions! --Phil vulgalour and morris_ital_lover 2
fred Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Dodge Charger in matt back - lights on full beam, in a moody foogy NY slum area
plasticvandan Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Anarok time, surely an early clubman would be limeflower, applejack didn't come until the very ass end of the 70s,early 80s?..... My suggestions, scrapyard scene circa 1993, and a "gone forever" time travel type PIC,say of a street scene of the mid 70s featuring an invacar, electric milkfloat, minor GPO van etc etc
morris_ital_lover Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Have to say Vulg, they were very good at the start but you are becoming really rather excellent at this malarky.... That mini is adorable! vulgalour and eddyramrod 2
vulgalour Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 From the 15 suggestions received I have picked a 'winner' so I'm closing suggestions for this week. You'll find out who's suggestion I favoured on Friday when I shall be reopening suggestions anew. Some astonishingly good suggestions, made the task of deciding which to go with very difficult. Limeflower and Applejack are interchangeably hideous, clearly someone has reshelled that Mini for OMGFREETAX or something, but got it wrong. Minimonging. Anyway, I'm happy people like the Mini, I enjoyed making that picture, it's the first picture I've submitted for turning into prints. fordperv, eddyramrod and plasticvandan 3
vulgalour Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 I've got the Suggestion Friday piece inked... but I'm still keeping it secret. In the meantime I'm working on a '59 Impala that I'm undecided on the background of and a Mk1 Triumph GT6. eddyramrod 1
eddyramrod Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Have a bonus 59 Impala, on me...(pic courtesy of Les Ardron, AACNW) Junkman 1
vulgalour Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 Triumph GT6 work in progress. Really unhappy with the wheels so far, but then they are Minilites. morris_ital_lover, fordperv, Cheggers and 1 other 4
vulgalour Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 Recently completed A3 watercolour and ink commission charting the customer's varied car history from a Rover Mini to a Rover 45 and presently an Alfa Romeo 156. If you're interested in a commission, do drop me a line and I'll be happy to discuss your requirements. With tax and MoT time coming up for three cars all at pretty much the same time, I'd welcome the business even more than usual. eddyramrod, fordperv, KruJoe and 1 other 4
vulgalour Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 1959 Buick Electra 4-door hardtop - £40 inc. P&P This is the first Suggestion Friday winner, chosen because they're a massive favourite of mine and while the other suggestions were very, very good, I find it very difficult to resist anything from 1959. That means we're open for a new round of Suggestion Friday from now until midnight on Sunday. morris_ital_lover, eddyramrod, Uncle Jimmy and 3 others 6
Skizzer Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 I like, lots. These are getting better and better. Once upon a time I used to draw cars a bit, and found that getting the wheels looking properly round (as you've done extremely well with the Buick) was the key. I did more or less everything else freehand, but often used a French curve for the wheels. I must have my old drawings somewhere - if I can dig them out I might post them up for a giggle. There was some shite in there, if I recall: Pug 604, Lancia Thema, XJ40, Metro... vulgalour 1
