vulgalour Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Update time. That means I'll collate the suggestions from last week and am open to new suggestions for next week from this point on. There's two very strong contenders for me from the recent batch, probably decide it on my mood at sketch time. For the last round, the only suggestion was the Bricklin SV-1 which made deciding fabulously easy. Here's the end result and the original can be yours for only £40 inc. P&P. Interestingly, the people that asked me what I was working on that had never heard of a Bricklin were unanimously of the opinion that it was a seriously cool looking car. This is probably the only example of a car designed to be safe being attractive. Previous rounds choices for me to choose from:> Fiat 500 Gamine> Citroen 2CV, open with angry woman inside> Panhard 24CT> 1938 Lincoln Zephyr drop top> Cadillac Cimarron Jim Bergerac, fordperv, Angrydicky and 4 others 7
NorfolkNWeigh Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 The only example of a car designed to be safe, being attractive ? I can see a Caledonian backlash looming. vulgalour and Craig the Princess 2
Craig the Princess Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Seating as it is Good Friday what about the Bunny Buick. The terrifying Easter related aberration.
vulgalour Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 You'll have to elaborate, Google is making me none the wiser.
Craig the Princess Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Can't link the picture at work but it number 2 here http://theverybesttop10.com/easter-cars/
vulgalour Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Congratulations, you've found a vehicle I don't want to draw at all. That's no mean feat! fred and Craig the Princess 2
Craig the Princess Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I'm very glad I didn't see that as a child. Even now I am slightly worried about nightmares tonight. (BTW I'm loving the artwork, once I work out something I will send you a DM for a commission if that is ok).
rml2345 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 That Bricklin is fabulous. About the safety thing, was that not put about when they realised it was going to be a bit slow and pants? Sure Delorean coined tried the same thing with "Ethical sports car" when it turned out the US emissions version of the DM-12 was going to be hopeless. vulgalour 1
vulgalour Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 DM away when you're ready, CtP. Hahaha, DeLorean and ethical in the same sentence.

MarvinsMom Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 i'd be cheeky an suggest my metro. but its white..... an god knows how that would turn out.
vulgalour Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 I've drawn 2 white Metros by commission in the past, so it should turn out pretty good, the scanner won't think so but the scanner is a liar. I'll put you down for Metro as a suggestion. It saves me from just having that Buick Bunny thing as the only option!
rml2345 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Wasn't sure you were open for suggestions again. In that case I'd like to see a Tatra 603.
vulgalour Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 Every Friday a new list begins. Really, people can suggest continuously and I'll cut off which list they go on based on which side of the art update they fall. If a week has no suggestions I go to a previous week's suggestions to pick an item. If I can't meet a deadline (commission work sometimes gets quite numerous) I roll suggestions over until I can. And so it continues until it becomes massive or meets a natural end. It's a really simple system but sounds really complicated when I try and explain it. 10th April Update (the next piece of artwork)> Fiat 500 Gamine> Citroen 2CV, open with angry woman inside> Panhard 24CT> 1938 Lincoln Zephyr drop top> Cadillac Cimarron 17th April Update (the one I'm taking suggestions for now)> Bunny Buick (my eyes!)> White Metro> Tatra 603 So people can continue suggestions whatever they want and I'll add it to the appropriate list as we go. rml2345 1
vulgalour Posted April 8, 2015 Author Posted April 8, 2015 Friday's update is now sketched and should be getting a bit of colour today. I'll tell you I picked one of the American candidates, but I shan't tell you which one until Friday. The suggestions so far are proving another tough one to choose between because it features 2 personal favourite cars and 2 that would be really interesting to draw... we'll have to see what else is suggested between now and Friday.
vulgalour Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 The winner of the last round was this, a 1938 Lincoln Zephyr convertible. I couldn't find a reference for it in this body type, from this angle and in this colour so ended up using half a dozen reference images to put it together how I wanted it. End result is very satisfying, even if the scanner did ignore some of the yellow coachwork. Suggestions for the 17th of April are as follows, I'll pick one: > Bunny Buick (my eyes!) > White Metro > Tatra 603 > Gaz Volga > Singer 9 Bantam > Ssangyong Rhodius Suggestions for Friday the 24th April are now being taken. fordperv, captain_70s, DS20 and 2 others 5
purplebargeken Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Very, very nice mate. How about a 1969 Ford Corsair 2000E in gold with a black vinyl roof (just like my Dad's) or a 1973 Mk 3 Ford Cortina 1600XL (4 door) in Daytona Yellow with a black roof (XAK 363L) (was my Dad's).
vulgalour Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 Two top quality suggestions there, that kicks the next round off nicely. > Ford Corsair 2000E, gold with black vinyl roof> Ford Cortina 1600XL, yellow with black roof If you want those cars specifically drawing for yourself I am currently open for commissions.
PhilA Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Like the Zephyr- reminded me of an episode of Fast-n-Loud. --Phil vulgalour 1
vulgalour Posted April 15, 2015 Author Posted April 15, 2015 Today I finished my selection from the options suggested and my experiment with a new idea has turned out acceptably well. I'll be updating you with that on Friday. In the meantime, keep those suggestions coming in. EssDeeWon 1
vulgalour Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 From the previous round my favourite had been the Tatra 603, it's one of my favourite bits of design and a car I'd love to have a drive of some day. The Singer was another strong contender, pre-war cars are quite enjoyable to draw. However, this idea for another of the suggestions came out of nowhere so I decided to run with the white Metro instead. Something very different to what I normally do and a style I hope to explore a bit further. Next Friday will either be a Corsair or a Cortina, as those were the only suggestions I got. Open for a new lot of suggestions now, so hit me with your best shots. Uncle Jimmy, Pillock, Jim Bergerac and 10 others 13

vulgalour Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 Cracking selection so far guys, well done for making it difficult! I've just finished sketching the Ford for Friday's update which I'm pleased with so far. Strong contenders in this round have to be the Racoon, the SAABS, the Avantime and the Vehicross so I've got plenty of time to figure out what I'm drawing. Going to be an interesting one whatever I go for.
sloth Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 have you ever done a triumph 2500s? in mimosa yellow..... mmmmm
