Great post! Welcome. My Golf Mk2 had horrific ride. Not a very inspiring car overall. Do like your other motors though.

I too have yet to say 'hello'.

Lovely collection of cars there. Always nice to see an early Mk 1 Passat.

A handsome collection and the Puglet is a superb little thing.

Welcme!!!! What a great fleet you've got/had. The passat is particularly delicious! I LOVE PASSATA

I seem to remember being unable to find an Alfa Sud in 1983. Even then they were either nearly new and unaffordable or beyond hope with rot. Bought a Lancia Gamma instead.......

What a collection, you've pretty much won Autoshite with the Alfa alone! Welcome along.

Good stuff!  I've had a couple of Suds and they were great.  Love yours  :-D

Welcome! Nice cars there, Alfasud is especially lovely and Mk2 Golf looks pretty good from where I'm sitting.

The Mk1 Golf looks class too.

Welcome!  It's funny how car histories can be similar; I had two Alfasud Sprints, although only one of them worked.  And a Pug 205, I agree with your comment about them being incredibly useful, I had mine for about 20,000 miles.  I also recently had a Porsche 924, even though mine needed all kinds of niggling repairs it was really nice to drive and for a tall bloke it has the most comfortable driving position evah.

Going back a few years, my mum had a Mk1 Golf 1.1 with the 4 speed box when it was newish.  I don't know what the theoretical top speed was, but it never went more than 60mph because of the horrendous din.  Dunno if it had the same drivetrain as the 1.05 Polo, but they seemed a bit smoother.  I did a few long journeys at 85+ and it seemed to be singing its little heart out.

Ramble over, welcome as I was saying

Welcome along! :-)

Like the 'sud very much - Best colour to have one in, imho.

(Was the Yellow Mk1 Golf pic taken down in Kinsale?...Looks familiar...)

I have much love for the 205 also - Ran mine all over the the place, despite it being the most basic XE.

Great cars...

(Thread on it here: http://autoshite.com/topic/10888-new-minge-bag-motoring/ )

Will keep my eyes peeled for the Alfa on my travels this year
