What about Moss Malverns ? - now a Spartan

I had never heard of them till yesterday in the pub when a mate said he had a hankering for one as a project. Should I be encouraging him or trying to put him off?

I presume they are plastic so less rust to sweep up and have a Triumph dollymight engine which should make them perform well as they must weigh a lot less.

Mr Bo11 has spotted one and posted the only pic on Autoshite which tells me they look like this.

Are they rare or just not shite enough for us?

I think the early ones were a Triumph Herald/Vitesse in a plywood and fibreglass dress. If one has survived until now it has probably been looked after and put together quite well. (Unless it's an unfinished project that's been sat under a plastic sheet in the garden for years)

Buying a half arsed kit car for Winter transportation, that someone with dubious DIY skills threw together and then for some inexplicable* reason decided to sell,  is a hilariously daft oddly tempting idea. It is my opinion that it must be done at least once in life, should a second chance not be ruled out by default in form of the Darwin Award.

Go for it.

I saw this one at the Ley Hill classics show (near Chesham) in the summer. Unfortunately my pictures thread from the event got deleted when we were having some technical difficulties with the site.

If you think it looks wank in the picture, I can assure you it looked even wanker in real life.

I had assumed the appalling wheel trims were a one-off to this example, but this thread would appear to provide evidence otherwise.

These are fairly shit TBH, theyre a Triumph Herald with a wonky plastic body shell, you can imagine the standard to which most were built. One of these cars that spend years under tarps in folks gardens, on eBay, on trailers etc etc, never quite making it back onto the road.

Mr Boll, has hit the nail soundly on the head. In 1985 I acquired a Spartan kit car in some p/ex deal. This piece of crap was a death trap then, with a 2.0 Pinto it was too fast and the back axle was located with welded chain. My dad had it off me and used it for a couple of years ,then parked it in his garden.

A few years ago Google earth was invented, the light green tarpaulin with an Alleycat wheel keeping it in place marks the current resting spot, 'ill park it there ,and rebuild it soon' he said.post-17414-0-62331500-1387179307_thumb.jpg

seconded + bonus points if it comes with an ill fitting/no roof, duff/no heater and a surprising* ability to not start from cold

Almost all kitcars look wanky if fitted with 13" wheels.  Try a Malvern or Dutton Siera on 14" or 15" wheels and it is going to look a whole lot better - the arches will be better filled and the ground clearance will look more appropriate.

OMG Thread revival

The soon to be Autoshite hero mate of mine has forgone the Moss Malvern and bought himself a Spartan. Probably encouraged by the words of NorfolknWeigh. It is due to be collected from oop north this weekend. Hmm, I wonder if it the same car? Should be an epic road trip that will probably end up on a relay wagon.

Anyway, he has in true shiter tradition bought the car without giving thought as to where it can be kept and I have been prevailed upon to see if you lot can suggest anywhere with a Brighton epicentre that he can short term/long term rent storage with access until he finds/buys himself a lock-up.

Haha I missed that hideous piece of crap understeering into the lamp post.... The best bit has to be the sound of children laughing at him.
