Do you enjoy the comfort and security of Volvo automobiles?

But do you also lust after the burble, scream and purr that only a V8 can provide?

Are you also depressed and considering suicide this festive period?

Well I may have found the ONE car, that will satisfy all of your neds.

Simply attach the throttle cable and attempt to drive it away. Into the closest hedge. Backwards.

Or be a nancy fairy pants and bring a trailer.

The seller ignored me when I asked about moting it with that exhaust.

It must be Christmas if someone's posting stuff like this where I can see it.  I only commute 4 miles, how bad could it be?

Was that you? No way will it pass with it protruding in that manner. Let alone the smoke and flames.

It's a boat anchor, imo. Not too bad for a grand I guess, but I would rather have say the Classic WRX that Station(?) was selling on here, for the same loot.

I was vaguelly interested until I came to the "welded diff" bit...............

How un driveable in normal usage would that make it?

I ran a welded diff on my Volvo 360 for well over a year. First as a 2.0 then as a 2.3T.

No negative issues, except for the inside wheel chirping when performing tight turns or the geat linkage rattling when parallel parking.

It helped greatly in snow as well.

The good points far outweigh the bad.

Winter Beater of Distinction/Death in this case.

That's a ruined car to me. No better than a hammerited Volkswagon with a pineapple, and brought many steps closer to the scrapyard by the modifications.

Hmmmmmm.....4 mile commute = 2 gallons a day = 10 gallons a week, and then you have to go to the supermarket on Saturday and church on Sunday !

The welded diff thing seems fine if your using it for drifting or drag racing but in general use you have to think that the fact that the back wheels can't turn at different speeds is going to give the car some weird handling charactaristics. Mind you kokarts are fun to drive and they have no diff.

I am sure any wagon driver on here can tell you what wagons do when the diff lock is engaged.

This is no longer feasable as a road car, and a total Plod Magnet.

I love it. Bit Of fettling, refit an open diff and make an exhaust. Easy.

oo, I know this one!  diff lock makes it very difficult to steer. the wagon only wants to go in a straight line. It's a last resort thing and if you have it engaged on tarmac you will probably explode the diff/break a halfshaft very quickly.

I don't like the 4.9 turbo engine either. shoulda put a 305 in.

In a typical week I do 7 shifts over 6 days... hmm, 14 gallons a week all of a sudden, plus the occasional car-boot sale ( a Volvo estate's natural home, obv).  We can discount shopping because that's usually the job of the Tacuma.  Still... beginning to look more like a daydream.  Oh well, I'm good at those (ask my boss! lol).
