It feels like a Bx. It smells like a BX. It drives like a BX. It looks like a BX

QUORTER MYLE INNIT

Seriously, bring it down GARAGE_DUGONG one night and you can try the several* options of wheels I have for the 305 which will fit the ZX.

Nice one Billy!  Have you laid up the 406 then?

Oh dear, you didn't hear about the 406 did you? :(

Jon, I'll take you up on that anon, thanks.

Jon, if you are selling your old 460 seats and want to put the leather ones in I can do this, and you can show Billy your selection of 20" Wolfrace wheels.

I woudn't say these look like a BX TBH, I like the look of BXs.

Still a steal at that price though.

Why are these so fast then? Are you sure its not just relative to what you were driving before? ;)

It's very BX alike inside, at least the seats are. It's faster in relation to my usual drive, but then so is almost anything. DW's earlier post reminded me these are a 1905cc, whereas the BX was a 1769 I think. There doesn't seem to be much weigh to the ZX either.

First gear reminds of the BXTD one, it's only any use for the first twenty yards or so, then as LP says you have to keep them on boost. I'm still impressed with how it pulls in top though, even if just bumbling along doing 50mph.

Aye. The 1769cc TD seems to have  a similar power output, but the 1905 has usefully more torque, so picks up better. The biggest downside is that they're hopeless below 2000rpm, then life gets exciting.

Quick update.

I have been using this car a bit recently and it's still a good old laugh. Tyres are 175/70/14s and don't inspire much confidence (though loads of tread) so will get swapped for 185/65s then probably 195/60s at some point.

Anyhow, I used it Wednesday for a dash up to somewhere near Wigan and my favourite* stretch of motorway was much easier to drive, thanks to actually having some poke. Keeping up with the knobweasels in their (mostly) German cars wasn't too much effort at all, and I got to upset some tit in an Audi in style.

Coming home after maintaining motorway speeds, the power sort of fizzled out though, so I had to make a manoeuvre from outside lane to hard shoulder on the M56. The car then just slowed down until it conked out, but as luck would have it it just sort of rolling-bump-started itself back to life. It seemed fuel related though there was enough in there, so it could have been because it had been a little low and there was shit in there. I'll get a new fuel filter anyhow I think in case it does it again. The last day or so it's also been ticking over slightly higher than I think it should, circa 1,000rpm. Not a massive difference but it's noticeable and therefore annoying.

Is it old enough to have a 'sandwich' fuel filter housing or is it the usual plastic housing built into the top of the thermostat housing? They are terrible for air ingress.

I don't actually know if truth be told, but I'll try and have a look after, cheers.
