Mike D Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Most of this is copied from OJC, as it took me ages to type and i'm lazy, but the trip to collect the Tredia yesterday follows. I've added some random Tat spots in this too though: I rang the owners and had a quick chat with them about it, agreed a price, and sent them a cheque. I couldn't go and have a butchers at it as i was on 12 hour nights, but the owners said it was ok to store it for me for a couple of weeks til I could get over and pick it up. I pondered how best to get an un mot'ed and taxed car back home from 80 miles away, Unfortunatley I don't have quite th cast iron nadgers as mrbol when it comes to a-framing, and the lack of tow vehicle put pay to that anyway. I contemplated getting a transport company to deliver it too, but it was the best part of a hundred quid, and it seemed like money down the pan. So I took the sensible option, I rang Ed and asked if he would drive my car home, booked an MOT for a car i'd never seen at a garage in Stamford, and set off to pick it up On the way, this AS favourite was captured: I arrived at 9.45, and had a chat and cuppa with the owners while I drooled over my new purchase It looked pretty good! The rear arches need some love, and one rear door needs looking at, but apart from that it's in excellent order. It started first turn of the key, all the lights, horn and wipers worked, so it was off to the MOT gagrage at 10.30 The garage said it would be ready about 11.30, so we walked into town to pass the time, and find out where the Post Office was. At the garage and on the walk were these beauties: At 11.30 we returned to the garage, to find the Tredia still on the ramps. A hasty headlight aim adjustment later, it passed its MOT The time was now 11.45. And the post office shuts at 12.The man at the garage gave us directions of a post office that was close, so we jumped in the MX6 and tore off to get some tax. We arrived at 11.51, "we don't do tax" Great, cue inputting the next post office into the sat nav. Unfortunately, sat navs don't seem to work in SStamford, and it just led us to nowhere, so I tore around the town until I found the main PO, time now 12.01 I abandoned Ed and the car outside, and legged it in. £66 later I had 6 months tax, and a fully road legal Tredia! We drove back to the garage, fired up the Tredia, and headed off home You'll go far, Mr Tredia I'm happy to report it drives fantastically, handles suprisingly well, and is very comfortable. I shall sort the grot out, and get those bits repainted, and it should last for many a year to come Mike
mk2_craig Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Fantastic!! This is the sort of story that the mainstream motoring magazines should carry once in a while.

Split_Pin Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Quality - that must have instilled some major confidence in the car too, passing first time like that!
