You'll struggle to find one for less than £1500. There's one on eBay at the moment but it's rnm at £1100-ish, they tend to fetch £3500+

a V12 for that sort of money will probably be a Jaaaag....

Even after owning a couple of P38s I'd still say "DON'T TOUCH ONE"

Disco is infinitely preferable in V8 on gas form to that nasty derv thing.

X type needs to be a 3.0. 2.5 is for girls.

Jaguar never made an XJ6 V8 :P They did, however, make an XJ8. 4.0 yes, 3.2 is for girls.

Also, this concept of overpowered..... does not compute.

Noffink wrong with V12 Jags. There is currently a very nice one in Daimler flavour out there that I posted in the Ebay thread a couple of days ago. This would also have the added benefit that you can sell it for a lot more than what you pay now in 5-10 years hence.

If you buy that kind of S-Class in anything below S600 guise, you'll regret it every day.

An S430 is like kissing your sister.

FFS, don't tell him that... he's from the Wirral.

Also, I've said it once and I'll say it again. XJ8 3.2 is false economy, get a 4.0 or forever be called a girl.

This is what you want. A 4.2 A8 Quattro. This one even has the much nicer facelift interior.

It's got 300bhp, all Ali body (gr8 for weighing in) and 4wd for snow kaos.

Don't be tempted by the 3.7v8 or the 2.8v6 and they're both lame. I recently courted a 2.8 Quattro and was so depressed by the end of the test drive I nearly did myself in with a cheese grater.

The problem with those is that they aren't nice to drive.

It is hard to believe how much better the Range Rover is, honestly now.

Jag V12s much more pleasant than any BMW lump.

How about this for shite bargetasticness in JRG?

A bit of hagglage may bring it down into budget, considering how long it has remained unsold by now.

From the days when people knew Jap was more reliable but still didn't buy them. I remember being taken to school in an '85 Stanza and it must have taken a lot of study to make such an unpleasant place to ride in.

If LPG is a must it's got to be that S-Class (barring the shit wheels). It's a v8 and that model of S-Class is supposed to be much improved over the previous one.

I have to admit, I was looking a LWB S class that shape recently thinking... Hmm

Fucking great. Agency has called and it looks like I'm going to be living in a truck 5 nights a week for the foreseeable future for a company 17 miles away in St Helens. Is it really worth owning a car when you'll be doing only 150 miles a week?

Is it even worth LPG anymore? Even in a 4.0 XJ8 I'll only be using a whopping two gallons of fuel to commute a week.

My weekly mileage on top of that wouldn't be more than another 100 and some of that I'd be doing through choice on my Kawasaki.

That 750i is kind of in "what can go wrong for 600" territory now. LWB one too so you could paint it pnk and start a a discount pished hen do limo service.

I always wondered what those 750's offered (other than some kind of fuel draining status) over the 740, which is already rapid but uses less fuel and is less complex.

Agreed... I had one once, in XJ-S flavour. It was wafty rather than rapid, though.

750iL for £600?

Get it fucking bought, man. Or buy my Cougar for £600 and I'll buy the BMW.

.. and Cherokheaps are agricultural. Grand Cherokheaps, less so.

Beware of knackered rear diffs in anything with QuadraTrak.

What's the score with turbos and LPG? Good or bad?

Any reason you want a V8 Disco? The TDi engines are probably better suited to the vehicle.

There's a couple of good reasons for going down the LPG route. Firstly, I'm essentially a dishonest person and at best it'd get filled up with cherry and at worst fuel would come straight out of a 25 litre drum that I filled up when refueling the truck.

Anyway, I love the sound of a V8.

waft around with classic fm playing or hoof it round the back roads like a big hot hatch.

god i miss it :dazed034:

sold it out of fear of the huge potential bills if it did assplode - i should have just kept it and hoped for the best
