Natural progression from the Estate thread... I'll kick off with the Manta.

... looks far nicer than the Hatchback IMO.

No piccies but look up Daf 66 coupe. Looks vaguely like the Stilletto to my warped eyes.

The Daf/Volvo coupe's are much yummier than the saloon versions IMHO.

Aren't most coupes yummier than their corresponding saloon versions? I know of very few examples where it is the other way around.

Here is one of the latter while we are at it:

Yes - but the thread is for cars that look better as Saloons OR Coupes, i.e. rather than Hatchbacks or Estates.

I'm aware that the Hatch 9k is 'transit/tardis like' in its ability to shift stuff.... but the Sal is so 'beginning - middle & - end' (without that minnging HL Brake) that it gets my vote.

Better than convertibles due to the doors.

Plus the lack of coupe models thereafter.

Mk2s look better as the fastback, but the mk1 is MUCH better as a saloon

I always thought the Lancia Gamma looked better in Coupe form:

And for comparison, the normal one, if there is such a thing as a normal Gamma

Yeah. It has been said in the 2-door thread, that the French only make multi-door family cars to fulfill all the prejudices. But what wasn't said is that the French have a long tradition to build proper Coupes instead of making half-arsed 2-door saloons.

May I, for a second, take the liberty and showcase a French coupe that for an inexplicable reason manages to raise my want level into the Stratosphere?

One of my wet dreams is to find one in this condition for a few quid:

and give it the Harry Westergard treatment.

Now don't wake me up, please.

Which brings me to a car that looks much better in saloon form than its coupe brethren do, and it was gleefully handcrafted in Merry Old:

Want level on Alpha-Centauri.

Those are lovely - such a pity that they are built by Frenchies (and therefore about as reliable as a politician's promise)

True. I think the style of the Calibra rear-end is much nicer, but that Pug Coupe is beautifully proportioned in side view.

But yeah... French. Therefore not even a long wooden canal boat propulsion item will be required for the performance of tactile duties.

You guys sound like the gits on MoneySavingExperts.com

However, PHAKT is: French car = autoshite -> desirable.

Desirability is directly proportional to the grade of shiteness.

Bollocks.

If autoshite is a multipack of crisps, I don't like the garlic & snail flavour.

But there'll be someone else who does, so that's OK.
