Eskilstuna Vederandag 2013 [will add more as time goes on]

I went to the Eskilstuna Vederandag this year while taking a much-needed holiday in Sweden. It's a massive auto jumble, show and aircraft event, organised by the local flying club and ClassicMotor magazine. Throughout the day there were fly-bys culminating in a Spitfire that made several passes over the show field.

I can't upload loads of photos at the moment because of a poor internet connection at the hotel, but I'll add some more when I get back to the UK. There was a mouth-watering array of cars there, and I reckon I saw about 75% of it because of the appalling traffic that followed a two hour drive from my aunt's in the south of Stockholm.

The parts-swap section was colossal. If you wanted to restore an Amazon or PV, you needed to be there. There were stacks of American spares available, too. I managed to buy a dashboard clock for my Amazon from a stall. They were only included on the 1957-58 120s and they're really scarce.

I also visited the Volvo Museum in Arlanda, VP Autoparts in Sollentuna and the Saltsjöbaden Classic Car Show that ended up with a procession outside my hotel. I took a day trip over to Tallinn as well but it was surprisingly bereft of Soviet chod bar a GAZ Gazelle van that I mistook for an Iveco and a knackered Pobeda that was being used to advertise a restaurant.

I have a slow three day drive to finish off the holiday - that will get PARENTS_WAT and myself back to Esbjerg and on to the ferry bound for Harwich. I've met up with them on and off over the fortnight and been into Stockholm a couple of times to meet up with friends.

Excellent, looks like a very pleasant change from a field full of Morris Minors / MGBs / lowered Golfs.

This is very cool.  I seem to remember there were a handful of them - some sort of futuristic promotional bus thing, made by General Motors or someone in the 1950s. Someone restored one a few years back and Classic & Sports Car did a feature on it.  Can try and dig it out if anyone cares.

Skizzer, yes do it. I'm sure I watched a TV program about those buses a while back/ You have to wonder how it managed to get over there. The swedes are mad for the big Yank v8's eh? Is fuel cheap over there or something?

They deserve to stretch their legs, is what they deserve.

Sad for them to sit festering indoors.

Any chance of not using the full resolution pictures,Wat? They're great but this thread's just locked-up my PC for the last 5 inmutes, I had to turn off the wi-fi to get stop it downloading the images and get control back.

I re-loaded the thread with the task manager open, browser memory use more than trebled (240,000k with 9 tabs open, 760,000k with this one added) just by having one thread open.  ONE THREAD.  That's taking the piss.

As for modern computers, when I can find a laptop with a non-reflective screen in my price range, I'll buy it.  So far, I've given up on them as they're all shit.

I for one am enjoying this thread very much.

It will probably explode my computer now...

Interesting stuff. P1900. Never bloody heard of it! This may sound like a stupid question but is the Volvo museum ran by Volvo? It looks a bit run down given it's a manufacturer showcasing their history.

It's about a million miles away from that super duper BMW museum in Germany.
