If you like a P6 you're gonna hate East Enders

Meh. Its just a car. Whilst I would prefer them to use a Ford Mondeo, I am not going to get to upset about it.

They crashed a SAAB 99 on an episode of Luther series 2 which I watched the other week. It was meant to be a small 'prang' but it looked like they crashed it a bit harder than intended as it was meant to feature later on (and did) but suspect that it was a scene that was filmed earlier as the 'bump' looked to have borked it a bit much.

IIRC the Imp that was hit by a train in Hartbeat was swapped at the last minute for a duff one that had already been in a crash. I remember the uproar at the time on the Imp Club site.

On tv cars - on heartbeat an A60 (derivative) gets driven into a river or lake. The chase up until that point is a mint road goer borrowed from the owners club. The one that goes in the river is actually a rot box dragged from the hedge and given a coat of gloss paint (badly) you can even see the hiab chain marks where it was recovered and then resunk for a retake.

Car ended up being raced

There was the brown Viva GLS that got wasted on Eastenders last year as well - bloody criminal.

Here are a couple of snaps I took at the Heartbeat place -

most of those motors at the garage in goathland were dead when they were parked up

The bloke who supplied all the motors for fartbeat (and the Royal) lives just down the road from me, he made a small fortune out of the TV company and paid car owners quite generously for their cars or use of.

I also know of a few people who 'claim' to have supplied vehicles, or sold cars to the production company. most of these are bullshitters.

No-one has seen the car that's been crashed yet, if you look that red P6 has cardboard on the cameras protecting the paintwork making me think they don't want to damage it, in the actual crash scene you probably find it magically transforms into a red Daewoo Espero with chrome bumpers as it hits the lorry, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

A Daewoo Espero???!!!!ELEVENTYTWELVE!!!  What sort of monsters are these people?*

*I don't really like Esperos beyond the looks.

It looks a like early Sierra prototype but obviously isn't, what a strange car, is it a Lada?

I think it may be Russian possibly a Lada! Wonder who bought that across?

Weld the roof on, banger race it, get what parts you can off it, etc. Still seem to be p6's about judging by classic car shows. Scrap Eastenders!

Is it an urban myth, do the rooves unbolt on P6s?

"goping out in one last blaze of glory"? or some such bollocks

Yes, the roof panel does unbolt. I still have to swap the roof of mine.

I wonder if they used an older car because it doesn't have a bonded windscreen.  The jaws of life do make a real mess on the front pillars and screen.

I really didnt want to see that. Did say they cut the roof off....

Looked like it was tidy before they trashed it. WHY use a nice one?

Why a 3500 as well! Take a fucking 2000 and rebadge it...

Certainly doesn't look like a Daewoo Espero, that's for sure.

If it is they made a good job with those chrome bumpers.

The straight six was a nice enough engine. If I were in the market for one I’d have a 2000 over the V8.

just reading more about this. If Phils thrown through the windscreen why did they cut the roof off?

2000 was a four-pot. The Triumph 2000 had the I6.

I wouldn't say no to either...

Ah thanks for clearing that up. An ex girlfriend’s dad had a P6 3500 and and a Triumph 2000, oddly enough (both long since scrapped/broken up) the Triumph was lovely and smooth and quiet, where I always though the 3500 was a noisy, rough fecker which wasn’t as relaxing.
