Abandoned Chod

Apologies if these have been posted on here before or if I am breaking any forum etiquette by posting links to other forums, but I felt compelled to share these brilliant pics from 28DaysLater (Urbex Forum). Credit to those that took the risks to get these brilliant (if slightly depressing) photos:

I'll never understand the mindset of people that seem to want to smash stuff up for the sake of it. Very sad.

There has been some controversy surrounding that site. As I recall those cars and the house in the last link were trashed because one of those numpties told everyone the location.

Oh yeah and one of them came on here crying about something or other.

Posted

That last link is terrible! Can't believe people would just smash those cars up for fun. I see them as potential projects whereas others just see them a something to spend ten minutes destroying

Posted

I think that poor Roller is probably the saddest sight of all - once the standard bearer for luxury motor travel and world renowned British craftsmanship, reduced to a wreck. Whoever left that gaff obviosuly fled in a hurry.

The 3rd link is to the often called hoarders house, if you search for it you can actually see how many of the cars have actually disappeared, I have been there personally and got a tear in my eye at the shite there, looking at the pictures on the link they have been damaged even further now, I don't know whether my pictures still exist on here as I posted them on the old forum

I've just looked if you search "old decrepid abandoned shite" my thread still exists, I'm on my phone so can't put a link

Fascinating and depressing at the same time.

I remember as kid, finding an abandoned old wreck of Marina GPO van but it didn't occur to us for a second to trash it. Sure, we pretended to 'drive' it around a field, taking it turns to push but we always returned it to where we found it (some abdoned barn) and left it intact. It was great fun for a while. Just cannot understand the DESTROY mindset.

Same here. As kids, we used to play in the scrapyard of a nearby Ford dealership and same thin - we returned everything to where we found it and avoided any damage as best as we could.

This destroying and vandalising thing started later, shortly after rock stars began smashing up their instruments on stage and reports of them devastating their hotel rooms made the rounds.

Wow, a wallmounted CRT tellybox.... outstanding.

Does look like the residence of some fairly well-off person who had to leave in a hurry. Perhaps he's got a surprise waiting when he gets back off "holiday" at Wandsworth.

Buildings at Risk website has more details. Says the owner went bankrupt in 2000 and vacated the premises in December 2006. A photo from 2007 shows the property looking tidy.

I thought the Rolls at the Bridge of Weir house was a Silver Wraith, but the rear window's wrong. Looks LWB though, unless it's the camera angle...

Took a trip down to Blackburn for a beige Renault 18 for Nisfan,

While in the area we had a look at the Jag mansion, here's some photos...

That's a Mini 'British Open Classic' there with the electric roof and 1275 Cooper engine.

Probably worth a few bob.

Wondered why your Facebook page had photos from this far flung place! Did the 18 mission go well?

Yeah, not bad. We had a bit of an over fuelling issue due to the choke being on when we departed, other than that it went ok.

A  lot of those Jags look too fecked to be saved, sadly. And once the windows goes you just as well forget reusing most of the interior

I don’t get the mentality of people who smash stuff up, either. Mind you, I did once through a stone at a long abandoned Metro...

I am ashamed to say, that I once smashed up a stolen and stripped three door Cosworth I found in a field.

In my youth, I wrongly believed that as it was already stolen, then the owner would be paid out by the insurance companly, never even crossed my mind that they may end up with the car back.

I ruined it,

I think I feel worse for the car than I do the owner!

One could OMG engine rape it and put the lump in a Metro.

Indeed it is mate. I still feel guilty, I wonder if the theives do?!

Seen the Moonstone  three door that was rear ended by a wagon and pushed into the traffic in front?

Just happened the other day.

Apparently the poor lad was standing on the hard shoulder, crying.
