The showfield is on the left of the road going into the village, and the car park fields are on the right.

'Our' field for three weeks' time is the smaller one, just beyond the line of trees.

 

 

I took the chance to go and have a wonder around.

 

 

It looks small from up the hill, but I bet there were 700 or 800 cars in here at lunchtime today!

For the summer this has been the cricket pitch, but it looks like the season is over, they don't seem bothered about it now.

I have read through this thread three times and failed utterly to find the address details beyond 'a field in Malham' and since there are quite a few fields in Malham that's not going to help me get there.  I can get lost on my own driveway.  So anyway, I wondered if the thread owner wouldn't mind putting the location in the original post for ease of reference.

 

I still don't know whether or not I can make it, I suspect I'll know either way on the eve of the event.

If you come to Malham at the time you'll see it, there will be some kind of suitably shite signage going on, if we can get our shit together. If not, it's the field with shite in, on the right, at the bottom of the hill as you approach the village (from the south, as will be the case for 99%).
In the days before, I'll get a better picture from the roadside to reassure the nervous.

Oh go on then, just for those addicted to the evil of brain-off sat-nav, have a postcode. BD23 4DA. It's a field, so it doesn't have a postcode, so even with that one, you'll have to use some initative.

I've pretty much spent the entire year failing to get excited about car meets. Vale Royal delivered and I'm dead excited about this one too. Also looking forward to a long haul drip in the Disco. I shall pack plenty of tools.

Slightly  OT, but Joe mentioned midges over on t'other forum ... Any suggestions for something to keep them away?

The reason I ask is that I have a bit of an allergy to midges/clegs/mosquitoes and I had a rather bad reaction to them earlier this month.

Smoking does the trick. Anyone got a two stroke? Or do we have a fire plan? A few tyres might help.

 

My wife makes a potion using wormwood or related plants. I've found that typical insect sprays don't have a lot of effect and smell HORRIBLE. Even good repellents won't make them actually go away, just stop them from eating you.

I am confirmed as being BACK IN THE GAME, unless the Council Estate shits itself. Backup plan is the 760 Turbo, which has it's own issues as a- it's not here yet, b- it's a saloon and c- it's not done a big journey in a while.

 

I shall find out from my mate Mick who attended last year if he is coming in his C-reg Micra to attain SHITE HERO status and report later.

Zippy (GDH) is sorting out the green-laning route for the Sunday, I'm sure he has it finalised, but Will has sent me these from his transportable telecommunications machine - some photographs of pages from an LETZ OVRODE magazine with some recommended routes near this area.

Ah, my bad! I looked back - Bready did say Saturday, but I'd got Sunday in my head somehow - maybe because I thought it'd be better on the Sunday!

I bet some can't make it up here 'til Sat late morning, and I'm sure we'll find plenty to fill the time in the field that day, between poking around old shite, throwing axes at Picassos, shooting Binis with crossbows, and just chewing the cud. I'm sure Binhoker shall provide his own brand of entertainment too. From previous meet-up, the best part of them all has been simply standing about gassing and taking the piss. That's what it's all about innit?

Then Sunday after breakfast we could head out for our play on the lanes, before going our separate ways.

 

Equally, we can OF RODE on Saturday, but I don't want to spend the day in my own car, then have everyone leaving for home by 11am Sunday, without having had a good natter with everyone.
