Reeto, Grandma Cobblers has been racking about in this old bus for the last 6 or 7 years, but she's getting on a bit and has a biff arm so she could do with PAS. The Ka I fixed up for her has just passed the MOT so I'm gonna move this on for her as she could do with the money (ironically to replace the PAS rack on the Ka which is hoofing fluid out)

Since she's had it, it's only ever wanted an exhaust and some spark plugs and a CV boot (and countless wing mirrors as she's constantly biffing them off on the gatepost). She does about 1k a year in it, so I think I've changed the oil a couple of times along the way. As usual, it does weep a bit from the sump so I just top it up for her every 6 months or something.

It's not very rusty for one of these - never been welded,  but starting to bubble here and there on the back arches and fuel cap, atleast one of which has a scrape down it) It's been parked by feel a bit, too and there's a crap repair on one of the wheelarches that I did when I was 19 and it started raining as I was painting Inside it's fairly decent, no smell of piss or owt, fairly presentable.

Engine is the usual 1100 overhead clacker, it will always start dead easy in any weather, even after being left for months. It's not been over 40mph since she's had it. Mileage is 88ish.

It's got the best part of 7 months test on it, it keeps getting advisories for brake pipes but they're probably fine IMO, and it's taxed while the end of the month. Dampers are a bit floaty, but maybe it's cos I'm used to driving OMGSLAMD hot hatches, MOT man says they are A OK.

Ideal for a shite runabout really, pretty reliable but I wouldn't try and drive to france at 85mph or anything stupid. You could restore it if that's your bag.

I reckon £200 isn't out of the way for an MOT'd running car. I'm in Rotherham and so is the car. NO DREAMERS U BID U BUY! NONE PAYERS WILL BE REPORTED TO THE RSPCA FOR BUMMING JILL DANDOS CAT

The picture is somewhat flattering - it's got scropes down the arch and on the back bumper etc, and it's not really a sought after motor really. Plus I'd rather sell it someone on here for £200 and get an easy life than try and sell it to the general public for any amount of money. I told her it was worth £200-£300, take £200 for an easy sale and she was happy with that providing it would get used. The young lad over the road has expressed and interest but he would matt black it and generally completely fuck it up.

I would like to organise a viewing, when would be good?  At £200 this answers the second car problem a different way for me.

Fair point. I was always a bit peeved to only get £250 for mine a few years back.

That's not me pissing in the wind either, I am genuinely interested as it's less cash than fixing the BX would be and I'm comfortable with Fezzers, I just want a proper look at it before committing to a final decision.

Is this a four or five speed?

I think this should be early enough too that the engine's not strangled with a catalytic converter.  The 1.1 is staggeringly slow and arthritic with the noose around its exhaust, I know as I used to drive one.  Ford just slapped one on the later models to meet emissions requirements.  With the lack of rust and general honest condition I'd say this one's a no-brainer runaround, go for it VA!

Sadly, it will mean scrapping old Stripey, but that car has done everything I needed and I think I might be looking for reasons to not get elbow deep in restoring it now... however, that is how it goes sometimes.  'course, if someone wants a BX with no tax and test, some holes and some sort of air leak/starting issue for £200 I'm all ears.

Yeah, it's got no cat

5 Speed IIRC, it has a tape play AND radio, and a clock in the dash - it's even got a fuggin revcounter, but it's untested above 2400rpm. Anyway with those fancy features I would assume it has 5 speeds.

VA - she just needs to get the Ka taxed on Monday and then it's ready to roll. I'll have a word with her about you coming over for a neb at it.

Awesomes, I look forward to it.  I've not got any day/time restrictions so I'm free whenever really.

Well VA, sale will be held back a week or so as her new Ka shat it's clutch completely after about 500 yards.

In other news, I have now got to change the fucking clutch on a Ka, which is a bloody horrible job cos there's no way to drain the gearbag oil and it continually pisses all over you out of the driveshaft holes

Not to worry.  I'm still flip-flopping about the BX but if I get on with the Fiesta and it's available, it'll likely seal the BX's fate... if not, it gets another reprieve.

Leave the driveshafts in.Then leave the gearbox on the floor where it is.There should be enough room to see to line the clutch up.

I've done a couple of KA's using a trolley jack to guide the 'box out and in again. No need to drag it out from under the car just lift it off the jack to fit the clutch then lift back on to refit the gearbox.
