One of the best attended monthly meets in the country??

For a good few years now I have been going to the classic cruise at Leeds. Never does it disappoint, even so early in the year, and last week was no exeception.

It was the first time I'd seen it and yes, it is lovely. I couldn't get decent pictures of it though.

Ah the Toon, I guess it's completely possible that you saw this one, I know some of these motors get to the Metro centre meet which is equally good.

 

I don't know the letter of the law, but I believe open wheels to be an MOT pass, however, I don't know if there are any outstanding C & U issue around wet weather and spray.

I used to go to the Leeds Cruise in the mid-'80s, as a spotty teenaged passenger in various Fords [and in various states of intoxication, McEwans Pale Ale for the win ]- I can especially recall a Lotus Cortina Mk I and a purple Mk 3 2000E (happy days! ). The Leeds Cruise was held in the car park under the western end of the Inner Ring Motorway in those days (is it still held there?)...

 

My best mate and I went with a family friend of my best mate - an aquaintance of this family friend introduced me to the wonders of the MG Maestro 1600, hence why I own one nowadays.

 

He (the chap who drove us to the Leed Cruise) has a lot to answer for! When is the next meet?

The Aston Martin funny car - wow. Just wow. I can only imagine what that sounded like.

VA, the rear lights on the Chrysler are hewn from pure and solid unobtainium so what you see here is the solution to get it back on the road. I thought it was a beautifully simple way to do it.

I actually have some pictures of it parked up looking derilict from a couple of years ago so I'm doubly happy to see it back on the road.

 

 

 

 

Glad folks are enjoying the pictures, it really is an astounding meet for something that is essentially unorganise, just established.
