Mrs Skizzer's Georgia clunkers: Day 3

Recommended Posts

Posted

Just got back from a trip to the backcountry of Georgia and the Carolinas, which is a tat spotter's paradise. As I was doing the driving*, Mrs Skizzer did most of the camera work (and quite a lot of the spotting).

*a Cadillac CTS, which was surprisingly good to drive even on twisty mountain roads. And being a Caddy, definite future shite.

There's a lot of shite there so I'll post the pictures up gradually over the coming days. Hope you enjoy.

^ This isn't even all that old, but shows class-leading Pogweaseling.

More tomorrow, and every day this week (unless someone shouts stop).

No, don't stop!

I was expecting Georgia, Eastern Europe, but this'll do nicely.

I clicked with interest re Mrs Skizzers clunkers and was not disappointed in the least.

I've a lot of love for that slightly tatty econoline on slot mags 8)

Good stuff! The Oldsmobile is a 1980s Cutlass Supreme, these (like the Delta 88) are amongst the last, and best, RWD cars GM made. Shagged ones like this are popular with the youth, crackers and gang bangers alike.

Posted

I enjoy-yed. Some of the cars look like they could get you shot in the face if you went any closer.

Yep, the Olds is indeed a Cutlass Supreme and the white Chrysler saloon is an Imperial, not a New Yorker. Still massive shite, though!

I like Econolines. Wonderriffic stuff.

I'll vote for the Econoline too, it's just right.

Also, wonder if the Iveco Zeta is badged as a Ford? This'll be from when they were Iveco-Ford over here.

Thanks for the comments, messieur-dames. I've corrected the Chrysler and Olds titles on Flickr - sorry, my US car nerdiness is a bit hit and miss so I'm grateful for being put straight. More errors will probably follow

I was pretty amazed to see the P-Nuts Iveco/Ford too. Must have looked like a very weedy choice amongst its native peers. Sadly whatever badges it might have carried have long since rusted off, but Google did find me a US Iveco advert when I was (superficially) checking.

Have another ten:

Iveco? In the US? Blimey...

I vaguely remember Ivecos being sold over here back in the 1980s. Here's a California registered Turbo Zeta....

Iveco-USA.jpg

Side note: Fiat/Chrysler is considering selling the Iveco Daily under Chrysler's Ram brand in America. It has already been confirmed the US will get the Fiat Ducato (to be called Ram ProMaster) and the Fiat Doblo (Ram ProMaster City) later this year. An similarly Americanised Iveco Daily could follow.

Oh, by the way, the red fire rescue truck is based on a 1962-69 vintage Jeep Gladiator.

Posted

Thanks MMOTP, I'd never heard of a Jeep Gladiator. An odd fit with all the other Jeep names, with the switch from North American frontier spirit to Ancient Roman arena.

^ An odd variation on the RAT LOOK theme. These were advertising some sort of shop. Warning: Olds may be a Delta 88, I think we've already established I can't tell my Cutlass from my Deltas.

Finally a couple of junkyard shots. This is my kind of field. One day I'll brave the possible dog/shotgun risk and knock on the door of one of these asking for a proper nose around.
