owner ron has not time to continue with the robin.. he purchased it with a dud engine, sourced another engine, put it in but it had wrong backplate for the starter motor, he has the replacement back plate, but not the time to pull out the engine and gearbox to swap over. he's sure 99% of the car is there... so if you fancy taking the robin on and making her tweet again give him a call on 01233 331901 he's looking for £350 ono

Stupid question time:

What's the difference between a late Robin and a Rialto? Are they the same car with different trim levels?

Posted

The Robin mk2 (as in this thread) is a different model.Rialto replaced the mk1 Robin (round lamps) in 1982.Robin mk2 came out in 1989 alongside the rialto, originally as the "top spec" model.Rialto was made up until around 94 and the mk2 until 1999,when it was replaced by the mk3.

Believe it or not this car for sale would have been around 7-8k when new :o

hope this helps

Duh! "Robin" and "Rialto" are two completely different brands.

Curiously though, they both made a car called the Reliant.

Plasticvandan rialtos where made to 1998 but very few and far between. As for the car for sale, begs the question how much mine is worth! On a serious note 350 not a too bad a price,i paid 7 for my low mileage immaculate tax and tested car and i got that cheap. If i had money i would get it for spares. Thanks numerous people for correcting the make and model. I have actually seen someone sells rialto advertised as a robin reliant rialto!

Rialtos werent officially made after 94,this was the period where Reliant was bought by Avonex, who built no cars in the year they owned the company, then Reliant was bought in 96 by Jonathan Heynes, who pretty much built whatever he could find lying around the factory. Many late Robin shape models were registered as Rialtos to get around type approval (the estate models with a mk2 robin front end werent type approved) so Rialto estate ids were used....

I really should get another.... im 25 in a few days so could actually insure one again for a decent price following Footman James refusing to insure under 25s a few years ago.

It is a good price looking at the general condition of it,Cobalt blue was one of my favourite colours.
