aldo135 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Seen a few cars for sale on here recently so thought i would join in! Been thinking about this for a while, and did half-heartedly attempt to sell it at the end of last year, but keep changing my mind. Just fancy a change now, you know what its like when you get a bit bored after a while and you keep seeing cars you want appear for sale, (like vnd's jag!)Monty3 by aldoliddell, on FlickrSo, it's a 1992 Rover Montego 1.6LX, in good condition, drives really well, a few minor scratches and sagging headlining letting the side down. Solid body no rust, been resprayed in the last few years. MOT August Tax April, no advisories on last MOT.Monty4 by aldoliddell, on FlickrMonty2 by aldoliddell, on FlickrMonty1 by aldoliddell, on FlickrMonty6 by aldoliddell, on FlickrI am in Edinburgh, reply below or send PM if interested!Alan
Minimad5 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Looking very clean ! Good luck with the sale.
Lord Sterling Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 That looks tastily clean, I've got to get a Montego at some point, though having just agreed to buy a D-reg Rover 820e that is closest I'll get to one.
Cavcraft Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 F*ck me sideways with a bargepole, that is worldly cool.
In The Pit Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Having not seen one for some time its easy to forget how nice and crisp the design is of these. My Dad had a C reg VP version (alloys, leather seats etc) from around 1988-1995 was a nice car he only got rid of it due to rust. I remember when these were the default choice for taxi drivers before the Skoda Octavia and Peugeot 406. It looks a nice clean car and this is the best forum to use to find it a good home.
ProgRocker Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I would love that myself. Good luck with the sale.
RobT Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Having not seen one for some time its easy to forget how nice and crisp the design is of these. Just what I was thinking looking at that side shot. The ones with the deeper front bumper just didn't look as good IMO. Good luck selling Alan, car looks a peach

pandarus Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Just love the interiors of AR cars from that time. Looks a very tidy example too.
Negative Creep Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I've got to get a Montego at some point. Likewise, ideally a Countryman in BRG. Being the other end of the country safely rules this one out for me
dieselnutjob Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 my Dad had a Montego when I was a teenager. I remember it as being by far the most comfortable of all of his cars to be a passenger in the back of.
aldo135 Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 It is a comfy car, much more so than our everyday MGZS! Love that advert, I promise I've never driven mine like that!
ayrshirelad Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Sadly i can remember when that ad and the one that came after it, with the Montego smashing threw the showroom window, when they were first shown on tv! OOh dear does that make me old? Them were the days when ads were ads! eddyramrod 1

aldo135 Posted February 12, 2013 Author Posted February 12, 2013 £500 for an Autoshite member! Remember according to howmanyleft there are only -5 left, no rust on cills, valuable reg(it has 2), good tires etc etc
aldo135 Posted April 19, 2013 Author Posted April 19, 2013 Bump up the list as I need to sell now, as we are expecting twins! Don't let distance put you off, my mum lives in Lincolnshire and will be heading down there soon

GLWS If it helps I am often up and down to the north west and could help with transfer if it makes it easier for anyone
Rod/b Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Good news on the twins, Aldo. We had twins in December, and it's bloody hard work but so rewarding with it. Are they your first? Good luck with the Nonego.
cms206 Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 You utter bastard. Four weeks ago I'd have had this instead of the Maestro 1600L cos I'd prefer a Monty! Durrr! If I win the lotto tomorrow I'll be right over! (congrats on the twins. You're still a bastard )
aldo135 Posted April 19, 2013 Author Posted April 19, 2013 Aye cheers Andy CMS! Loving that buying a Montego will be top of your list if you win the lottery! Thanks Andy Seacow and cheers for the transporting offer! Rod we have a 3 year old girl already, who is desparate to be a big sister, she might change her mind once they are here! We were trying for one, but still in shock its 2 haha. Delighted though. Take it I might have to give up sleeping for a while?
cort16 Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Congratulations. You need to get an estate so you can nip out and have a sleep in it.
aldo135 Posted April 19, 2013 Author Posted April 19, 2013 Thanks Mr 16! have been looking at estates. I'll maybe do a deal with Andy for the council estate! Like the old Merc/ volvos with the pull up seats in the boot.
Negative Creep Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Sadly i can remember when that ad and the one that came after it, with the Montego smashing threw the showroom window, when they were first shown on tv! OOh dear does that make me old? Them were the days when ads were ads! No, it can't make you old because I can remember them too. I now feel young as I don't remember them, but I can certainly recall them being a common sight and need one in my life (luckily I really can play the location card in this instance). My German teacher, who was a complete bellend, used to drive a light blue estate, so I did have an irrational hatred of them in my teenage years
aldo135 Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 My wee one is desperate for me to take her to Peppa Pig world, and that's not far from you! No-one is safe!
254575 Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Apologies if you have already said, but what's the mileage on this beauty? Is the headlining holding up? This is the other end of the country than me, but the road trip would be awesome
aldo135 Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 Mileage is 78,000, the headlining is er, not great! It is clean and in one piece, but is sagging badly in the back, it's fine in the front as the sunroof holds it up. It doesn't look too bad but does annoy rear passengers as it tickles their head! Will get a pic of it on soon
