Come on guys, someone make a decision!, I still fancy the microcar museum.

I nominate the street I used to keep the Volvo down in Sale.

I've even got a rule book sorted:

1. All members with blowing exhausts have to drive round repeatedly at maximum revs in 2nd \ whatever maximum lateral G the Stomils will stand.

2. All entrances and exits around the church to be blocked in 'just for five minutes'.

3. All Nissan Jukes to be keyed repeatedly.

4. Shitty, moaning, appallingly punctuated messages to be posted on every car in the street lest they be near their tax expiry.

5. All skip lorries to be set on fire immediately.

6. All AS members to arrive with a set of curtains they can twitch impotently like a frog with a severed limb wanking itself into oblivion as the scalpel falls.

7. Any Scottish registered Mk2 Vauxhall Carltons that arrive must be treated as guests of honour.

I vote for Andy's again, but we need to get the cost/entry fee balance right for him this time. Also there needs to be a quiz so I can hand over last years championship prize to a new custodian for the next 12 months. Happy to help with devising questions- a 'match the car to the 1970/80s sitcom character' round comes to mind :D

Posted

I also vote for that if he's up for it, depending on monies being sorted out beforehand etc.

If not, I'll probably go to whatever happens, we ought to make a decision soon though!

i dont think a set price per person up front is a way forward, why not setup a fundraising paypal account, we can set a target and donate towards it. if we dont donate enough we can roll it over to do something else.

We could even find some 'sponsors' for awards

That being said, i have no idea how much we will need, will Gary be able to tell us?

I enjoyed Shitefest 2012, and as long as the 2013 edition isn't somewhere a billion miles away I'd like to attend.

Has any body contacted Andy about this as it really need organising?, I had a great time last year and would be disappointed if we missed out this year.

Posted

I think the fact he is having to sell his precious series 1 beta to pay the debts from last year he isn't over keen to do it again, but it would be a shame not to have another, a good time was had by all. :D

Right, I think that apart from the funding issues, Andy's place was MEGA last year.

This year (as long as he is happy to do so) we should have it at his again and get the funding for it SORTED.

Judging by his earlier response to this thread:

Anyway - Shitefest 2013. In principle, I'd be happy to host again if that is the concensus, but I won't be offended if you want to do something else this year - maybe back here next year?

I'd want to get it onto a more "reliable" footing for the funding, but other than that, it was a great time back in July (maybe a later date for this year or next) would be preferable though

We should get in contact with him, make sure this is still the case and get some funding arranged.

Pre-paid by PayPal is a good plan, I think half the problem last year was the amount of people who were all 'hell yeah I'm gonna go, wouldn't miss it for the world' and then on the day were all ' I saw a dead bee this morning and its really affected me emotionally so now I can't come and am ranging a funeral for it'.

Is anyone here bezzy mates with Andy and could get a telegram sent to him saying we would all very much love to ruin the patch of grass next to his garages and annoy his neighbors and how much per head will this cost if he agrees?

Posted

Likewise, if anyone can put me in contact with him, I'll happily setup and manage a PayPal account etc for funding

SteveO, I have what I think is a current mobile number for Andy, I'll pm you shortly...

Thanks, I have messaged him this:

Hi Andy,

We are looking to arrange another shitefest this year and you mentioned you would be happy to have us again

We would like to pay you up front so you don't end up out of pocket, so can you give us a rough idea how much we would need to raise and when you would be happy to have us?

Posted

Does anyone have some suggested dates?

Andy mentioned doing it later this year so August will probably be better due to summer hols, weather.

10th/11th August &

17th/18th August avoid the shows I have in my calendar for this year.

Its a shame most of you guys are further up the country. My mate has 13 acres of field around his house with a shower and toilet for use as he has the odd campers now and then. Plus he loves old shite.

Problem is he is in herne bay, Kent ..

Excellent - let us know if he replies!

I've still got the 'Best Velour Interior' award lurking in my garage somewhere, so I'll be there to pass it on to the next lucky winner!

No luck so far, I've PM'd and SMSd him, i've also messaged the management on here to see if they can sticky a thread for us, so we can start advertising and arranging it.

Right BITCHES is this going down or not? anyone got any plans or ideas as Andy Betamax doesn't seem overly keen in getting back to us about it.

After the success of today, this REALLY needs to happen. Needs to be central and er, that's surely about it? A field somewhere in the Midlands.

Posted

If we can't score a private field of any sort, we should look into just going to some countryside park or something.

Here's the Leicestershire County Council guide to parks and the local countryside in general. Can't get much more central than that. I've been to the Market Bosworth one, and it's a very nice park in an idyllic little town.

As was hinted in the pub I ran the BX tech do on our school field last year without complaint so surely I can convince them to let me have it again for something similar*

We shall see....

What I did with that was draw up a blank map of the UK and put dots on for everyone who was up for attending a do somewhere, on that occasion Ludlow was very close to being central mostly due to plenty of interest from Wales and Bristol. I had a campsite in Leicestershire in mind if the interest had been mostly from the east of the country. It's run by a chap called Eddie who likes American cars

Posted

I still fancy the camp side at the bubble car museum in Boston but it's no good for those of you to the west of the country.

Can you all just move to the east?.

Posted

We've got standards, y'know.

Lincolnshite could be good.

Posted

As I have said before, have shite will travel. My previous record of 840 miles in a weekend should be an interesting challenge to beat as short of holding it in France I don't think I could've gone much further south...

the camp side at the bubble car museum

Is that the area behind the Gents' where Julian Clary likes to park his Frisky?

Posted

I hope that Shitefest happens in some shape or form this year, as I deeply regret having to pull out of attending last year's event at the last minute, due to The Volvo getting bitch-slapped by my boss and his X-Trail :(

Is this likely to ever happen? or should we just have some kind of day event meeting up some where like Stondon Museum again or the bubblecar place?

Posted

Day meetings are all well and good, but what made Shitefest was being able to devote a couple of days to it, so folk could travel crazy distance and still find time to relax. It's unlikely that I'm going to get as far as the Bubble Car Museum though. Getting across this country is a pain in the arse. It really needs to be in the Midlands somewhere if we're going to do it.
