Camera shite value / For sale

I know there's a few camera pervs on here so someone might be able to help, my father in law has asked me to try and sell his old camera for him, I know he bought it in 1979 and it hasn't seen much use.

It's a Pentri GX-4 which according to google is the same as a Cosina CT-7, http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Cosina_CT-7, It comes with leather cases and stuff, it also has a few lens, a Miranda 28mm 1:2.8, A Petri 50mm 1:2, a Optomax 1:2.8 135mm and a Miranda 70-210mm f4.5-5.6 which is boxed with instructions.

Does anyone know anything about values on these or even fancy buying it?.

no idea what it's worth but I like it!

I have a Cosina CS2 (I think)

I'll have a look for the Petri on google out of interest.

I could imagine Wat nursing a semi over this!

That's quite flash! My first SLR was a Petri fully manual with PK lens fittings. Everyone where I worked laughed at it but I had good quality lenses and, unlike their aperture priority Canons, did not under-expose every shot with the sky in :D

Ah, that's interesting, I have a lot of K mount lenses.

£20. :P

Name your price then RG!

Trig, I have no idea what it is worth..has he got any price in mind at all?

Looks pretty smart but sadly 35mm SLRs are virtually worthless these days, even a decent Olympus or Pentax would be lucky to fetch £50. Hard to say what that little lot's worth but you could always stick it on Ebay next time there's a free listings weekend and see what it fetches, but I wouldn't be surprised if it bombs. If you can get £30-£50 for the lot you'd be doing well I'd say. :(

I'd separate it all out, the lenses and filters might fetch a few quid, but the problem is no-one will have heard of Petri, I hadn't and I was in the photography biz for years.

I told him it's not worth much, I know it cost him a lot but that was over 30 years ago, I suspect £40 + postage for the lot as the lens fetch £10-20 each on ebay.

I guess that would be a reasonable price with all the lenses and stuff but out of my car boot sale £5 budget. :(

I really should get a job so I can afford stuff like this.

I'm out lads, I have too many 35mm cameras already - so many in fact, I'm looking to sell rather than buy. I'll only go after stuff if it's weird, unusual or on my hit list.

Got a really early Carl Zeiss Werra, a Zorki 11 for sale and an Olympus OM-20 for spares (it's goosed but would be useful for bits).

Who was it on here who wanted a Minolta X-700? There's a minter up for grabs in Oxfam Altrincham (although the bloke is asking a mad sum of money for it - the lenses are all Miranda and Petri. He wanted £200 originally, then someone told him was mental and because of this it's now £99. I said £60 might be fairer and he'd be up for offers).

I'd say between £30 and £40 for that lot.

On seeing this thread it reminded me that I have an old Canon AV1 somewhere in the house.

DSLR's have made these obsolete - like old computers, may have a small following but not really much use anymore.

Is it not possible to use SLR lenses on DSLR cameras?

Posted

some old slr lenses can be used on DSLR, for example there are adaptors to fit Olympus OM lenses on canon and the new Olympus micro 4/3 DLSR. From experience on the Canon 5D you can get good results, but obviously you lose auto focus and as the lens was built for a 35mil OM olympus camera, theres no aids to focus.

I cut my teeth on Olympus OM stuff, Olympus OM was my favourite camera to use, found it much nicer than the OM10.

First SLR was truely shite... a Zenit E with a light leak...

Those lenses will go straight on to my badge-engineered Pentax K20D, and meter too unlike most other DSLRs, just stick the mode dial on aperture priority. On other DSLRs you'd have to go fully manual. Focus assist works too.

That's why I like Pentax K mount shit, you can buy really nice old lenses for them for pennies.

I'm quite tempted to buy a used Pentax DSLR (mine is a Nikon D50) as my Dad has a vast array of Spotmatic and K related bts 'n bobs I could make use of. Ta for reminding me.

I'm also quite tempted to find a Pentax 110, simply because I've always loved them. GLWS etc (free bump)
