Another little treat from my birthday jaunt to Keswick...

You certainly don't see many of these, and even fewer wearing Vauxhall badges.  It's not looking too bad for 30 years old, is it?

Holden and Opel badges too - circa 4000 sold in UK in total. Can't say the last time I saw one in the wild tho.

Certainly don’t see many of those around now. The guy that owned the garage I used to take my work van to collected them! He had 3 or 4 dotted around in various stages of being stripped and rebuilt.

How often do you meet a R107 SL parked outside your local Post Office?

Not only that, but it was a stranger, I don't think I've ever seen it before.

The rest of these are from yesterday at the Lakeland Motor Museum...

I had a 940 estate, it was one of the first cars I bought from AS.  The next two also reach back into my past, way back to the 70s!

Gorgeous Mercury Coupe dates back to 1941.  Car of the Day for me, but the Herald was extremely close!

A 'Mercury 8' I think. 3.9L V8. And one of the last cars overseen by Edsel Ford who set up the new marque in 1939. Edsel Ford died in 1943.

I found a brochure for one the other day. They struggled to hide it being basically a bit of a farmers truck really. Same for the Frontera, you couldn’t disguise how unsophisticated it was with some bits of velour trim and a radio.

It was of course a rebadged Isuzu Trooper.Very much of its day,a big old school 4x4.Makers needed a 4x4 to sell and hadn't the resources to develop one on their own.Arch rivals Ford came up with the Maverick,a rebadged Nissan Terrano.Think the Isuzu had a better image than the Vauxhall and was quite popular with hardcore caravanners.The much better selling Frontera,again popular with caravanners,was based on the Isuzu MU which was never sold in the UK,but fitted with a bewildering range of GM Europe engines and was actually made in Luton.Happy days indeed.

Spotted this today in Bridgnorth.Actually badged as a Bighorn so must have been imported back in the day.Seemed to be well cared for and nearly 30 years old.

And this morning I've been at the Lakeland Motor Museum.  Didn't sell even one diecast, because we were getting showered too much, but we did have some lovely cars.

Now look closely at these two Graber Alvises...

Registered in the same batch!  I'd love to think that all the numbers between these two were also on Alvises.  And now look at the company they're keeping...

A whole club outing of Armstrong Siddeleys!  This is probably more than I've previously seen in my whole life to date!  Bloody hell they're gorgeous.  This is how luxury cars should be.  And I'll tell you what: watching at close quarters as they sweep into the car park is pretty impressive too.  You get one of these things wound up and it'll go!

The green one in the last photo is one that Oxford Diecast used to reference their model of the Armstrong Siddeley Hurricane; it also happens to be a similar colour to the 1950s Dinky offering:

...oh look what I found on a car-boot last year!  OK, now I think I have to strip and paint it.

Seen around Barrow... This Vitesse sold on ebay recently, I thought it looked familiar!  Obviously someone round here has bought it.

And this BX looked familiar too, as I waited at the lights...

I think it might be known to the AS Massiv.  Now, a couple from Ulverston...

And a visit to the Motor Museum...

I really love this Anglia...

I was about to say that it's good to see the BX has been given another stay of execution on the queen's Charlie's highway and then I spotted that it's still not managed another mot. Maybe the owner thinks it's a DeLorean and it's time travelled to 2028 when it'll become mot exempt?!

No V6 badging; bench seat; column shift manual... I'm going to guess this is a V4.  Can't be many left in that spec!

I have a terrible feeling it might be.  These things were not known for rust resistance even in the 70s!

Is this owned by that absolute nutter/legend that buys up random old rammel and parks it round the industrial estate? They get 7 day removal notices on them for no tax and the day before they’re removed he simply moves them around the corner and the whole charade starts again from scratch.

I suspect that's him, yes.  I also suspect he's responsible for the P6, Vitesse and Wolseley that I've posted recently.  He's good entertainment!

Was up in Barrow a couple of weeks ago.This was outside the cafe on Walney.The owner lives nearby and had restored it from a wreck.Says it's not very nice to drive.

Yes, IIRC you cleverly timed it for when I was dahn sarf!  That's one of John's, he's a regular at the Round House with one or other of his fleet.  I know him from local events enough to chat, but not yet enough for him to ask me to bring one of his cars to a show!

Last week at the Lakeland Motor Museum, two Swiss-registered Wolseleys showed up...

Yesterday while attending a funeral I spotted this...

..and although it appeared at the Motor Museum today, I decided one pic was enough.  I'm sure you'll forgive me as you scroll through these...

My favourite truck to drive, the ERF EC11, was well represented today!

Last few days we've had a stranger lurking in the alley...

It couldn't be much tighter up against the wall, could it!  I think it's probably been abandoned, at least until they see if the cops are looking for it.
