sco14 Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 A few more photographs. Under bonnet as is now. nearside rear wheelarch. Offside reaar wheelarch. Fuel tank and part underside. Tailgate badge before refurb work. And after. Genuine Renault boutique rear mudflaps. Interior being refitted. Rear Seat Headlining and interior trim did not receive any work or even any cleaning. Front view Paint finish on the replacement genuine Renault old stock bonnet. Refurbing the original wheels which have never even been repainted before. The wheels were then sand blasted and etch primed. Front arch showing part of powder coated subframe. More to follow later. Dick Cheeseburger 1
Wilko220 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Absolutely top work. This thread makes me very happy!
Largactil Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Amazing I've had a real soft spot for the 14, dating back to when I used to go car shopping with my dad in the mid-eighties - While he was cooing over Astra's & Escort's, I was crawling over the forlorn 14 which every used lot used to have, stashed in the corner of the yard slowly disintegrating...
RedSparrow Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Fantastic car! These really were smart little things. It's a shame hardly any survive just because of the metal they were made from.
face Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Fucking Patrick dans le jardin, etc. Superb looking thing. Brilliant work.
sco14 Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 The car was waxoyled in July 1981. The underside was treated with industrial acid alkali resistant paint which was a dark grey colour then painted over with industrial red lead paint which was still visable in the early photographs in the thread. The car was waxoyled several times over the years as I knew how rust prone this model was.

trigger Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 This car keeps getting better and better, It has to be the best left in the UK now?
sco14 Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 I have even got an advert from Feb 1980 showing a 14 identical to mine.It was published in the Daily Express.
sco14 Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 Time for another update. Progress has slowed due to work comitments. Underbonnet still to be properly cleaned.
sco14 Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 Here are a few more. Now to try and find a few parts which will be more difficult than finding hens teeth. The parts are the rear washer nozzle and a centre cap for the wheel.Hope to get the car through its MOT in the next few weeks. Thanks for your previous comments guys. Dick Cheeseburger 1
panhard65 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 I should have those parts secondhand I will have a look on monday when I am back in the yard if they are any good for you
Mr Lobster Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Not sure but I reckon theres a fair chance I might have some of the wheel centre caps kicking about somewhere. Let me know if you need one and I'll have a rummage.
Parky Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Just superb. Wonderful to think someone has saved a 14. Looks brilliant. Is it worth trying leboncoin or Spanish eBay for the missing bits? While browsing for renault 7's the other day I saw a few obscure, nos parts on there like expansion bottles for a tenner, that sort of thing. 14's were quite popular over there and last better obviously owing to the climate.
garethj Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 A photo of that car for the 2014 calendar, please. Stunning work
Parky Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Might be something useful amongst this lot http://www.ebay.es/sch/Coches-de-epoca- ... 86.c0.m282 No idea what most of this means but the pictures should help! http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/offres ...
