I know its O/T but Danny Baker's been sacked from his gig on BBC London and is currently doing what all us radio DJs would love to do on our last day but dont have the balls.... Rant and rave on air about it.

Two hours of live bitterness. ha ha

Good for him. Apparently he's shortly to be inducted into the radio hall of fame or something...well deserved too, I'm a big fan of his :D

He is a bit of a wanker though. Hope this means he's off 5 Live too. Then they can sack Dotun "Lazy Bastard" Adebayo, who just gets elderly/drunk/demented people to phone up, rather than making a proper show. He's been doing the same stuff for years. "Welcome to week 22,967 of our virtual jukebox"

I've just put it on for a bit, He seems pretty pissed with the BBC, I'm surprised they haven't pulled the plug yet.

He called his programme director a "pinheaded weasel" on air. I'm REALLY surprised they let him back on after being told he was emptied. Normally when you get the call into the boss's office its "you've done your last show"

Haha thats brilliant! Does seem daft that they let him on air after giving him his notice though?

Now on iPlayer Link. Can't believe it hasn't been pulled!

Seems a little choreographed tbh with the station getting a little bump for notoriety as a result of his ranting, which is all it comes across as really. Never liked the guy, a real chore to work.

Quite funny that, they played some of it on 'Today' this morning on the way into work.

I always listen to his Saturday show on 5live before Fighting Talk. Enjoy it a lot. I liked him a lot more after listening to him on 'Desert Island Discs' .

I don't mind Danny Baker - his Saturday show on 5 Live's a bit surreal at time though, so probably an acquired taste. The Daz adverts and Pets Win Prizes probably scuppered his TV career in the long term though, barring the odd appearance on QI.

5 Live have been giving this story a lot of airtime today, which is probably an attempt to get more listeners tomorrow morning, to see what Danny says about the whole thing.

As for Mr Adebayo, I've often thought the same thing. How a presenter on a talk radio station can continue to get away with inviting listeners to tell him which records to play beggars belief. The link-up with a New York radio station is also incredibly lazy of him too, and fills up a big chunk of the show with virtually no effort as well. Also, in the same way that some people have a face for radio I don't think it's unfair to say that Dotun has a voice for newspaper. Listening to him is sometimes hard work, which when you're half asleep is even more of a problem for the listener.

Amazingly he has an MBE as well. I'm guessing this isn't for services to 5 Live listeners.

All this should probably have gone in the grumpy thread.

Danny Baker KILLED Bob Marley. PHACT!

I like him, he was brilliant when he used to do 606 on a Sat evening after the footie. His Sat morning show is fun, one of the few radio [or TV] personalities able to express his opinions without descen ding into Moyles-esque blathering.

This whole "Danny Baker sacked from the BBC" thing has been done before after some off-colour remarks about referees. I'll have a listen tomorrow to see if he's still on 5Live.
