Rover 800 koop for sale - DON'T ALL RUSH AT ONCE

OK, I've got the big-league hots for a Peugeot 406 coupe, so it's "ROVER & OUT"!!!11II!!!

HEADLINE KEY FAX: 1998 Rover 800 Sterling coupe, manual, 2-litre T-series, Zircon silver, 142,935 miles.

Man-sized MOT until Aug 2013. Also taxed until the end of July, but I'll probably be getting a Doovla refund on that unless someone wants to pay extra for it.

At 135k had the cambelt done and a new clutch. Last year: new handbrake calipers, rear shocks. At 138k an engine oil & gearbox oil change.

I've had it 18 months & covered 7,000 miles, including return trips from Lahndahn to Lake DIstrict, and Brittany. NAE BOTHER.

It's massively comfortable and surprisingly economical - I've averaged 33mpg. Thanks to the miracle of NOT BEING A FUGGIN K-SERIES, it uses no oil or water and runs BOOTIFUL.

Have to say it looks pretty great - in fact there can't be too many better left on the road (I haven't seen one, anyway - though in the last 18 months I've only actually seen two of these, and one of those was dumped). There's a titchy rust-o-bubble on the driver's door, and a couple of small scabs on the passenger sill. All four corners have dem usual light scuffs. There's a thin arc-shaped wiper mark on the screen which is a slight shame but has never bothered the testers. The grey leather interior is unmarked and the overmats were new when I bought the car.

Air-con is ice-cold and there are no ABS or airbag issues. Original head unit with factory 6 CD changer in boot, remote central locking, heated electric seats, wing mirrors, sunroof - all fully functioning.

The steering-wheel audio controls are temperamental in cold weather... slightly more significantly, so is the driver's-side leccy window. This is my way of saying it hasn't worked at all for a month now. I've had a fruitless stab at resoldering the switchpack, a window-related ECU under the passenger seat and the notoriously bothersome main fusebox under the dashboard. I'm a useless tit, though, so it's easily possible I didn't do any or all of these properly.

The original Prestige alloys are in decent nick (Lord Sterling will be delighted to note that I didn't change them for the Vitesse wheels - which I belatedly realised would have looked CACKOLA).

I dunno - £600? It's in Cockney Chiswick.

As ever I'm seeing this motor off with a ridiculous photo tsunami. WOAH, HERE SHE COMES!

Oh man. I've been after one of these for ages, but not in that colour. With that engine. Or that interior. Or that Honda platform. Or in Chiswick. Otherwise I would DEFINITELY have had it. Did that help?

Very nice indeed. I see no reason why that wouldn't go like a Thai Ladyboy in a Thai Ladyboy bar full of western blokes looking for a Thai Ladyboy boy/girlfriend.

I have absolutely no desire to purchase your Rover.... However it is a really attractive looking car, which with a few little bits you mention sorted will be a really nice motor for someone to get great pleasure out of,and pricewise doesn't sound too unreasonable to me.

All the best with the sale, and may the tyre kickers go kick elsewhere

It's not for me, but the 800 Coupé is the best looking 800 by far.

Bites tongue.

Hare - I just stuck up a note on the R800.info forums 'for sale' section about your car. LINK It should get you bit more of an audience.

I even managed to present the advert with clickable thumbnails in the same way you did, took a bit of time but I did it.

Werd.

If this was a totally different car i would have bought this... Joking aside it looks very nice and that interior looks very inviting, a bit like Jimmy Saviles changing room.

That looks nice and in many respects the NASP T-series is the best buy - no turbo with melty pistons nor ridiculously complicated Honda engine silliness. Performance is still decent, economy sensible and refinement perfectly acceptable.

If you'll include converting to LHD and shipping it to the Middle east, I'll give you that £600
