Lovely. I like old campers but yours doesn't look too shonky. We will be needing some interior shots NB. Here's one I saw outside the spiritual home of old camper vans.

Dont think there IS an interior at pres-- maybe an old cupboard- so I'll be on he lookout for a knackered caravan to provide amenities etc, shortly.Who knows- might even catch the end of a rubbish summer..

Tis about 30 miles away Mr B!!!. Went round 'tbay twice without takers -presumably bewcause of the lack of UK reg & steering wheel!Dont see either as a major prob -wheel has to be similar to something I've got stored- or else I'll just replace the column..Paperwork? No sweat. So -its off to sunny Southampton with the dolly -although unloading a non steerable van might make for an interesting trip!

Ooooh. Have you got one -spare?Research so far seems to suggest that a Barkas, Wartie & Trabbie spline is the same -and there seems to be loads on Ebay.de.Which makes sense -I guess? However- they all look completely different! Size, shape, style etc etc. Might take a punt on a couple & see how it goes..

Nope, just thought I'd be a smartarse and see if I could find one on internet auction. Parallels with the Isuzu coupe's previous owner and his intention to sell the service history separately? :)

Barkas' rock!I read an article somewhere that none were originally campers, and that a company in Belguim or something does the conversions.

It' ll rock when I get a steering wheel on it -looks like an Ebay german imports on the cards- just trying to ascertain that there is only 1 type of spline!!What are they like to drive then?

Seeing a Barkas again brings back "happy "memories......Whilst riding down the transit route between West Germany and Berlin, in the eighties, on my Moto Guzzi, I (along with several other westerners, but no DDR citizens (who were travelling at the same speed)) was stopped for speeding by the Volks Polizei. They had narrowed the dual carriage way down to a single lane, set up a speed trap, and then waved all the westerners into a lay by. We had to form an orderly queue in front of a police Barkas, when it was my turn to step inside I found a a small table with a cash register on it and sat behind it a hot, sweaty and cramped VP officer. I handed over my fine (in western deutsche marks, not DDR marks) he rang it into the till, I was given a receipt and sent on my way. Further down the road was a similar set up, but i was wise to the trick and slowed right down to half the speed limit, at the entrance to the lay by, a VP officier with a wide grin on his face, waved me on - no second visit to a Barkas for me!

Paul -dont be so silly -of course I do -even its only for parts for mine (& perhaps a useful registration?)Or -preferably -it can go into (better) storage till I can get on to it(probably age 70!)DONT BIN IT _ PLEEAAASSSSEEEEE (or I'll tell all.....)
