I'm going to North Wales this weekend on a cheap Holiday, is there owt worth seeing or doing? I'll be based near some place called Pwllheli.....going via the A55 Chester, Bangor etc.....

I saw a film the other day with a Welsh girl in it. It ended up with 5 guys going to Bangor in the back of a van.

D'you like steam engines? There's the Snowdon Mountain Railway and the Talyllyn railway.

I don't mind them, but the other half would be bored shitless......

Never been on the Talyllyn or Snowdon railways, but there's also the Ffestiniog railway which trundles through some nice scenery and goes from Porthmadog, not far along the coast from Pwllheli. It's a good outing even if you're not into steam trains as such (http://www.festrail.co.uk/):

There's Portmeirion, the mad village where they filmed The Prisoner - lots of quirky architecture and stuff (http://www.portmeirion-village.com/):

Harlech and Carnarvon Castles are both worth a look, unless you don't like castles.

The National Slate Museum (http://www.museumwales.ac.uk/en/slate/) is grimly fascinating - you get to put on a plastic tin hat and go down a slate mine.

Just across from that is the Dinorwig Power Station - a hydro plant in a giant hall hollowed out of a mountain, which has a visitor centre that does free tours(http://www.fhc.co.uk/electric_mountain.htm). GR9 for getting in touch with your inner Bond villain. Bonus Dodge 500 series content if you squint hard:

Apologies to Mrs VanMan if this is all a bit blokey.

There's lots of beaches and hills to walk around in too, but I'm a bit hazy on some of the specifics being from South Wales myself (different place entirely, and there's no love lost between the two :D ).

I've visited Llandudno, Conwy and it's castle and drove around Snowdonia, which was all nice. Walked a bit around Beddgelert too.

Trust me....I know how the North South devide works, once lived in Camarthen as well as Bangor... in my defence it was only for a few months

Head to Lake Vyrnwy and then try and find the mountain road that takes you to Lake Bala. Or vice versa. Very steep, very twisty, very scenic.

/\ now that sounds good 8)

I love North Wales, It's very beautiful around Snowdon, If you want to visit a zoo then try http://www.welshmountainzoo.org/ I went there a few years ago and actually quite enjoyed it, plus it's scenic being on a mountain.

Rhyl is a bit of a shithole though.
