I remember watching that at the time, to be honest they're right about most of them and there is something to be said for residual values if you're buying brand new. My mother bought a brand new Rover 100 in 1995 as it was by that time one of the cheapest new cars you could get in our area and I remember they had trouble selling it after 3 years, none of the local traders would offer anything like a sensible price for it as that model had just been all over the media for that dreadful euro NCAP result and people just didn't want them.

I also remember it started to rust in the seams after a year and failed its first MOT, something to do with the way the hydragas suspension had deflated unevenly, by which time the rear arches had started to rust as well. Not a quality piece of work when you consider that for similar money you could have a K11 Micra. Still, it had more character and charm than the mk4 Fiesta that replaced it.

Interesting. Just had a peek at that video, the 'related videos' bit led me to

about buying 'bangers'

Noticed most of it was filmed around the Midlands.

Did the sad thing and checked the regs I could see:

The Talbot Horizon (GR8 name for a pub) VKV659X lasted until 2004.

The Morris Oxford JSJ213 is currently taxed

The Beige Triumph Acclaim A325UOM is currently on a SORN

The Polo - No trace found.

One thing I've always wondered is if "new" TG was filmed in 1990, what would be the "reasonably priced car"?

And yours for only £500, still appears to be in excellent condition.

If you're interested in old TG clips a good one is the visit to Poland in the 1980s that some one posted a few months back. I'll try to track it down...

Edit: here it is

Best. Episode. Ever.
