My mate is having a clearout of her vehicles, due to various reasons - wanting her drive and front garden back being the main one.

to

So - Sadly the following vehicles are being sent to the frag in the next couple of days. If anyone wants them for weigh in money then let me know.

1: 1984 Toyota Corolla 1.3 GL Saloon, Gold, brown trim. My mates daily driver for around the last 6 years, sadly today the cooling fan didn't kick in by the sounds of it, and she boiled it dry. Runs, but suspect OMGHGF.

It's been a legend of a car, starting it's life in Devon, then moving over to Ireland, before returning to the UK when my mate bought it. It's tatty, but servicable has current MOT, and Tax, but this will be getting sent back or you can buy for the surrender cost. It's been patched up over the years, but it's solid where it counts. It's a shame to see it go, but my mate is adamant she wants rid.

Price £Weigh in

2: 1977 Hi-Ace Pickup. This I've been involved with for a while, the camper shell has been removed, and it needs MOT etc. It's only done 21k from new, was ziebarted so the chassis is solid. the cab is tatty, but salvagable, could do with a drivers door, but other than that it needs paint. Runs ok but has a squeaky alternator, 4 speed column change, ok tyres. For the MOT, it will need at least the following. Sharp edge on drivers door sorting. Rear lights fitting. Wiper blades, the spare putting on as one tyre is perished as its been sat flat. Handbrake freeing up.

Price £Weigh in

It's sad to see both of these go, I currently am at capacity for storage/projects so personally can't take either on sadly, but with a bit of logistical movement can store one or both the vehicles for a SHORT amount of time.

PM me on here if interested, or call me on o7848I77489

The fragging thing is not a threat, my mate is talking tomorrow, but as said can give one or both a short stay of execution.

They're in Leeds Billy.

I have done a little bit of work on the Corolla here and there over the last couple of years. Those arches are solid even if they are scruffy. They had lots surface rust so one day when I was bored and hungover I went round the corner (its on the next road up from me) and did some welding here and there took off some surface rust, filled it treated it and primed it and told Liz to get some paint and paint finish it, which sadly did not happen, so its had some nice porous primer on there for nearly a year (with a thin coat of hydrate 80 underneath). However they are good and are not made of wob. They can easily be tidied up.

The engine did run like a treat. Its really (surprisingly) nippy and fun to drive. Its worth saving for someone with the time and inclination. I however have too much other shizzle to be getting on with.

I am able to keep the Corolla at mine for a few days to give it a stay of execution if someone wants it but I cant keep it for long.

I think El Watanabe should buy the HiAce to park outside his snotty neighbours house.

Those old HiAces are GR9. I'm sat here trying to work out if there's any possible way I can (a) squeeze it in somewhere and (B) get up to Leeds any time in the next few days to collect it. At the moment the answer to both questions is "no", but I'm still thinking...

I really hope somebody can save these as they are both ace and now absurdly rare old things. I'd love one of those Corollas, but one stupid non-working car is enough for me I'm afraid :(

I really hope it doesn't come to this, but both of these are GR8 4 EXPORT and would doubtless make a fair bit more than bridge money if you could get a friendly Africa-bound chap to come and collect them? At least then they'll live on and not become bean tins... Obviously it would be 1 million x betterrer is someone off here could save them though

I'm not in a position to buy, but I have a major want for that HiAce

AARGH - I love those Corollas, How much would the 'scrap plus tax' price actually be?

Leeds is way to far for me to afford getting it brought back, plus the Simca needs all the funds I can get hold of, but it would be a shame for that to be scrapped.

I might be able to deliver at cost of petrol + £15 (insurance). Will see what the bus fare back up is. Am from Angmering so can see my mum so would not be a waste of my time.

Will see how borked the engine as to whether it can make it (it might be fine, will have an honest look if I am driving it to Brighton).

I think it's worth saving. May be able to temporarily stick it on the (unmonitored) DFS carpark across the road from me if that helps anyone.

Am from Angmering

How do you pronounce Angmering, out of interest? Ang-Merring or Am-ering?

Thats pretty tragic to weigh in that Hiace on a whim after its survived 35 years. i bet even an exporter would love to get his hands on it.

another one for how fantastic those hiaces are - especially with the 18r 2 litre engine.

It should export no problem - I'd gumtree it personally. It'll sell for £300 easy. If I was close to Leeds, it'd be on my drive so I could do just that!

There's also a lot of people after spares for them.

Get it back on RR - where it came from!

Get it back on RR - where it came from!

Dont think it originally came of RR but could stand corrected (not sure if RR was about when they got this). They got it off an American couple that Liz had been travelling round south America with when she was younger, as they used it to travel round the UK. Liz and her then boyfriend Jack then went all over Europe in it for a year or so until they came back and it stood on my drive for 2 years. Due to complaints from my housemates, we got it MOTd again with little effort and it was on the road for another year or so but by then the wooden camper body had become terminally rotten due to a leak in the roof when it was stood so has sat there for ages.

Plan was to put a flatbed on it but it keeps getting put off and I think Liz has just had enough and wants her garden back. It should take very little for the MOT. We had it running a few weeks ago. It started no problem at all.

Have now got the Corolla on my drive. It is driving okay. Will have a better look at it tonight if possible.

Oh, and its pronounced Ang-mering.

That makes sense. Entire family living down there pronounced it Amering just because the first to move to the area did.

To be honest, it depends where they moved from as it could be accents too.

Littlehampton is just down the road but becuase of the darn saaarf accent the locals call it 'Lil-ampton' which is often abbreviated to L.A.

'Yo! Magic Marve! Where are you off to mofo?'

'What-up Trey Dawg, I'm off to with my homies and bitches to down town L.A. as need some scented lavender soap and a pumis stone from the Body Shop'

Pm sent regarding the rolla.... How grotty is it?

From memory, its not grotty at all Tim. I will have a good look underneath etc tonight for you to be sure. Not really had a good poke round it for some time. Its scruffy but rust wise in good condition IIRC.

there was a Hiace that had had the body taken off in Leeds on RR about 18 months ago - I just assumed it was the same one!

Is it a 1.6 or 2.0 one?

Posted

it is the same one.

Its the 1.6 12R engine, I think the same as a Celica.

That'll be it - they're all Londoners who set up camp in Rustington.

Do you reckon the Corolla will fit on the back?

OK, update.

Corolla is still available, heading for export tuesday we expect.

Not sure on the Hi-ace. Capsuleboy?

Sorry if the bloke didn't get back to you about both of them, Volksy. I did mail him twice about them so it's possible he's just a messer.

He did, hence why the Corolla may be headed to start it's new life in Africa, My mate would prefer it to stay in 'the fold', but as there has not been a lot of interest she's just happy to be rid.
