I had a test drive of this yesterday:

It was quick, but not really as quick as I expected it to be (no better than my old Maserati, really), and the steering was FAR too light at licence-losing speeds. The interior was a nice place to be, but felt a bit overstated. The boot was surprisingly small for a sports barge like this, and there was a rather obtrusive loading sill. The computer thing to adjust car settings was a bit confusing, and the V8 engine noise was very subdued.

All in all, not what you'd want or expect from a car that costs £144,000.

Would I swap it for my Calibra?

Yes, in an instant. Then I'd sell it and buy another Calibra & a house.

Still would. Is the V8 a new model? ISTR some ridiculous Volkswagen W configuration in the one I drove some years ago.

Do those Halfords 'Graphics' on the doors come as standard???:lol:

Yep, it's the new all-wheel drive 500 bhp 4.0 V8.

One of my mates' dads has the 550 bhp 6.0 W12 and is a 'valued Bentley customer', which is why he was able to blag me a test drive of this new one

I think they're an option. And as such, they probably cost a squillion pounds.

Personally I think Bentley haven't made a decent car since they stopped knocking these out.

Even then they ruined it before the end after the VW takeover.

Volkswagen don't seem to have a clue. The Continental GT is such a bland looking machine, even with its super-bling headlamps. No wonder they feel the need to tell you what it is!

I tried a Continental GT a couple of years ago. Rather liked it. It didn't have the sense of occasion that a Turbo R or Arnage gives, but it didn't squeak and flex like a Turbo R either, which is a major plus point.

I'd have one, but I'd have most of the stuff you lot tend to dismiss because a footy player owned one / too expensive / not available with a Perkins rattler.

The early ones were a electrical nightmare;thats what happens when you make a car 'competative',you lower the marque, but in order to do so,some compromises need to take place.Me personally, not impressed with them at all,and lean more towards a Rolls Royce.

It won't be long before the GT models are just as worthless as a 12 year old Rangerover
